Fun fact, May is my Birthday month. And as such, I do have a tendency to go a little crazy with the spending during that time of year. My justification being ‘I’ve successfully made it another year on this planet, I may as well treat myself’. Though this year, even I’ll admit that I treated myself a lot more than I usually would. And as a result, I have a huge haul for you today! I have makeup and skincare from Mecca, KKW Beauty and Sephora! So strap yourself in folks, this will be a long one. You have been warned!
Firstly, I got the KKW X Mario Eyeshadow Palette. Out of everything that I bought this month, this was the one item that I fully intended on buying. I wanted to buy it when it first came out but it sold out before I got the chance. So I woke up early to get it during the second drop and I’m pretty stoked to have it. All of the shades blend beautifully and that blue really is as pigmented as you think!
Next up is Mecca. I missed out on Meccaland back in April (gotta love living in Queensland), so I was pretty happy that all of the Meccaland exclusives landed online not long afterwards. And I was especially happy that the Smashbox X Vladamua collaboration was one of the launches. So I grabbed the Smashbox x Vlada Petal Metal Highlighter in Gilded Rose. I will totally admit, when I first got my hands on this highlighter, I didn’t even want to swatch it because it is truly stunning. But I have worn it a few times now and I love it. It’s subtle but gives a beautiful sheen to the skin.
Wanting to get my Mecca order over the Free Shipping mark, I also got the Smashbox X Vlada Petal Metal Covershot Eyeshadow Palette. And if you want to know my feelings about this palette, just check out my May Favourites!
Finally, we have Sephora. And I placed a few orders here for both skincare and makeup. So to break things up, I will start with the Skincare. Firstly I repurchased the Pixi Glow Tonic. I had conveniently finished another toner when this arrived so that worked out well. I have used the Glow Tonic many times in the past and it’s a long time favourite.
I had wanted to buy a new Vitamin C serum so I bought the Ole Henriksen Traveling Wonders Skincare Set. It was actually an amazing find because not only does it come with a mini Truth Serum, which is already one of my favourite Vitamin C serums, it also comes with deluxe sample sizes of The Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer (which is also an old fave) and a few new products, The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser, The Invigorating Night Transformation Gel and The Uplifting Transformation Eye Gel.
Finally, the makeup. Because I am Sephora Black, I was lucky enough to get the Birthday Bonus gift that they give out. This year, it’s Tarte and I got a mini Amazonian Clay Blush in Partaaay and a mini Tartist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit. I also cashed in some of my points for some 100 point perks. Keeping with the Tarte love, I got a deluxe mini of the Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara and another smaller sample of The Truth Serum.
I recently ran out of my eyebrow pencil so I got the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. I had heard that this pencil was great if all you needed to do was fill in gaps. and seeing as I have really full brows, this suits me pretty well.
I also bought even more palettes. I know, I have a problem. The first one was the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette. I already love The Huda Beauty eyeshadow formula and I had heard excellent things about The Obsessions palette range.
The last thing I bought was The Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette. I have no justification for buying this so I won’t bother trying to defend it. I just wanted it.
And that is it. I should probably apologise to my credit card. Let me know what you treated yourself to during the month of May.
Cheers and Love
