When it comes to fragrance, I am a woman of two minds. On the one hand, I wish to smell like the sweet, sugary gourmand girly that I know that I am. On the other hand, there are some occasions where I want to show some restraint and go for a lighter, more subtle scent that is very agreeable for a workplace environment. The main reason for this being that I have a boss (who also happens to be a parent) that is particularly sensitive to super strong scents. And for those occasions, I do have a curated wardrobe of fragrances that I turn to quite often. Especially during this time of year when the weather is warming up. So, if you’re looking for some certified workplace safe fragrance recommendations, here are some of my top picks. Let’s get into it!

GLOSSIER YOU – $55.00 for 8ml
NOTES – Iris, Pink Pepper, Ambroxan, Ambrette
This is about as basic a pick as I can get. But screw it, I adore Glossier You. So much so that this has been my handbag fragrance for the last little while. Honestly shocked that there is anything left in this bottle, to be honest. The Iris gives it a light floral quality that makes it stand out from a lot of my skin scents. And the Pink Pepper is a lovely warm touch. This is also very easy to reapply throughout the day. It always garners compliments when I do wear it. You is a classic for a reason.

DEMETER CLEAN SKIN – $34.95 for 30ml
NOTES – Top: Orange, Lemon, Bergamot. Middle: Peach, Rose. Base: Vanilla
How could I not include a perfume that’s literally called ‘Clean Skin’ in a list like this? Demeter’s whole brand is based around envoking a thought or a feeling or a sense. And Clean Skin on me definitely gives the feeling of just stepping out of the shower and toweling down your skin. There is a soft powderiness to it. As well as a fresh zing from the citruses in the top notes. As it settles, the Vanilla really shines through. I’m now very curious to try more from Demeter because of how much I’m enjoying this one.

ELLIS BROOKLYN SUPER AMBER – $198.00 for 50ml
NOTES – Amber, Musk, Virginia Cedar, Vanilla Orchid
Finally, Super Amber is one that I’ve spoken about a ton on here over the years. And to this day, it’s still my favourite from Ellis Brooklyn. It’s main selling point, in my eyes, is that it always smells different every time I wear it. Some days, the Vanilla is more pronounced, others the woody Cedar. It all comes down to your skin chemistry and sometimes even the time of day (I love this particularly when it’s been on my skin for a few hours on a warm day). I know that this one is polarising, but it fills a very specific hole in my fragrance loving heart.
And those are my tested and true workplace safe fragrances. I hope you give these a go. And as always, let me know you go to work fragrances in the comments.
Cheers and love
