My history with Benefit Cosmetics and their mascara’s is pretty well known here. I was a long time hater of their first three launches. And I swore that they couldn’t make a mascara that I would ever like. Then they bought out the Fan Fest Mascara back in 2023. And we all know how that went. Which brings us to today. A few months back, they bought out the BADGal Bounce Mascara. And of course I had to pick it up and try it. So, did Benefit strike lightening twice? Or was the Fan Fest Just a fluke? Let’s find out.

BENEFIT COSMETICS BADGAL BOUNCE MASCARA – $49.00 – sephora.com.au

We’ll start with the packaging. And the one thing I will always say about Benefit is that their packaging is always unique. The BADGal Bounce Mascara is housed in a sleek, magenta tube style packaging with blak detail. The handle and the body of the mascara are both long, rounded ovular tubes that twist onto each other. Very sleek, very cool. The BADGal Bounce Mascara contains 8g of product. There is also a mini version with similar packaging. It’s $27 for 4g of product.

The wand for the BADGal Bounce Mascara is one of the more interesting ones that I’ve seen recently. One size is an hourglass shape with synthetic fiber bristles. The other side uses short molded bristles and is straight. I’ve seen wands like this floating around. But I think this is the first that I’ve tried in this format. And I do like it. I use the synthetic side to load on product, and the molded side to separate and define the lashes.

The formula is pretty standard. A little on the dry and waxy side, but it’s nicely rich in black pigment. Because this is a higher end mascara, there are some fun goodies to help the lashes in this formula. There is Linden Bud Extract and Rice Wax to help make the lashes look fuller and hold their shape. There is also Provitamin B5 to help condition and Castor Oil oil to nourish the lashes over repeated wears.

First impressions of the BADGal Bounce Mascara were actually pretty positive. I was happy to see that this formula was very lightweight and buildable on the lashes. The above picture is two coats of product. As I mentioned earlier, I used the synthetic side to build up the volume and length, and the molded side to separate the lashes. And the amount of lift and volume truly impressed me. It was almost giving falsies, but natural falsies.

Now, wear test time. Right off the bat, yeah, I’m pretty pleased with this. I did notice some minimal transfer early on while I was wearing this. But the longer I wore it, the less noticeable the transfer was. I also did lose some of that lift. But that is to be expected. I didn’t notice any flaking or intense smudging with this one. I even got asked a few times what mascara I was wearing, which almost never happens.
So, do I like the BADGal Bounce Mascara? Yes, yes I do. I cannot in good conscience say that you should buy it at full price (yes, the price did make me wince). But it’s a very good, long wearing, strong performing mascara that I recommend. Have you tried the Benefit BADGal Bounce Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
