And that’s a wrap on Autumn. Thank god that’s over.
Yeah, it’s been a wild couple of months here at Emmie’s Beauty Life HQ. The last month has felt like it’s both flown by and dragged on. I swear the universe knows I have a holiday coming up very soon… But you didn’t come here to hear me rag on. You came for the beauty. And I have five incredible products that became fast favourites for me. None of these faves will be shocks to those who have paid attention to my Instagram. I was very much a creature of habit over the last few months. But they are all products you need to try immediately.

GO TO SKINCARE CLARIFYING FACE HERO – $56.00*
The term ‘holy grail’ gets thrown around a lot these days. But the speed in which this became a favourite blew me away. Basically, this is a dry oil that is used much earlier in your skincare routine than a traditional oil. And while it does all of the things you would associate with an oil (protects skin barrier, balances oiliness), the thing that pushed this over the top for me was how well it controlled my breakouts. Not only were they less frequent when I was using this. When they were popping up, they were healing a lot quicker. I flew through this in record time (yes, this will be in my May Empties too). So another bottle is very much in my future. If you’re someone who has combo/oily skin or deals with breakouts, I think you’ll really enjoy this one.

HALF MAGIC SINGLE EYESHADOW – $23.00
I just shouted these out in my last post. But wow, the Half Magic shadows are truly something special. As someone who is a sucker for both duochrome glitter and pastels, these shades were pretty much made for me. While they are predominately glitter, they do have some base colour to them. So you can wear them on their own. But I wore the shade Eyelectirc Butterfly (second from left) on top of an matte blue shadow (Aqua from the Australis Make Waves palette). And that was such a stunning duo. I’m definitely interested in picking up the other duochrome shades from their range.

MILK MAKEUP HYDRO GRIP GEL TINT – $65.00
This one I reviewed already (you can read that here). But it’s right up there as far as Best Of The Year contenders go. I love the finish, I love the wear, it’s so comfortable on the skin. It’s probably the skin tint that’ll come with me on my trip next week.

MADE BY MITCHELL LIGHT CURVE CASE – $68.00
Another recently reviewed goodie. I swear, Mmmmitchell should put me on his PR list, the way I have put people onto this palette. The quality is absolutely phenomenal. I have already put a serious dent in the shade Hello There. A contour shade that rivals the Westman Atelier as far as tone goes for me. I’ve actually recently bought a whole heap from Made By Mitchell in the hopes of doing a One Brand Recommendations before their offical Australian launch in July. So, stay tuned for that.

NYX COSMETICS LIP I.V. GLOSS SERUM – $22.99
I legit thought these were in my last favourites. Yeah, this season took a while. In any case, these are brilliant. You all know that I’m a glossy lip kinda gal. And a glossy lip that has full pigment is an instant *add to cart* for me. It really takes the stress out of a lip look. The two shades I have are Hydra-Honey and Caramel Drip (the two nudes, you’re shocked). They make my lips look so full and juicy. Now, I know that in the States, these were marketed as a lip stain. I don’t get the staining effect from these as much as I suspect I would from one of the deeper shades. But as a lip gloss in their own right, they are truly awesome.
So, those are the beauty faves. But it’s also been a good season for the bonus faves. Let’s get into those.

GAME CHANGER (Dropout.TV) – Guess who finally got a Dropout subscription? This guy! And yes, seeing the clips of season 6 of Game Changer was what finally pushed me over the edge to do it. If you’re not familiar, Game Changer is a game show with a difference. The contestants go in not know what exact game they’ll be playing. And hilarity ensues. It is seriously some of the funniest stuff you’ll see on TV. I love it so much. You can find some of the episodes on their YouTube page for a primer on what the show is about. But I definitely recommend the Dropout TV channel as a whole. It’s the best $9.16 I’ve ever spent on a streaming service.

THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE – Ok, a little peek behind the curtain. It was between this and Sinners for my movie pick this season. And seeing that Sinners is getting it’s well deserved flowers already, I wanted to shout out a movie that wasn’t quite getting the love. So, yeah, The Day The Earth Blew Up absolutely rules. The first full length animated feature from Looney Tunes ever (how is that possible?), this tale centers on Daffy Duck and Porky The Pig having to team up to save not only their childhood home, but the entirety of earth from an alien invasion. This is definitely a movie that employs, what I like to call, the Mel Brooks style of comedy. Where there are so many gags and jokes, you can’t even tell that one didn’t necessarily land because you’re already laughing at the next one. It’s a genuine joy that basically no one saw. So, if you’re like me and a child of the 90’s, you owe it to yourself to see this. Especially if you’re now a parent. Your kids will have a blast with this one.

THE BEAUTY CHEF THE PERFECT POO (thebeautychef.com.au) – I am a hot girl. Therefore, I occasionally have tummy troubles. Mostly triggered by a combination of IBS and lactose intolerance. With a light sprinkle of potential perimenopause now that I’m in my late 30’s. Long story short, everybody poops, but I poop weird. So, I was immediately drawn to The Beauty Chef’s newest launch, the Perfect Poo. This uses a special potato starch prebiotic that combined with other fibres helps, well, moves things along more effectively. It also works to boost your overall gut health. Making you feel less crappy (I’ll stop now). I have to say, I’ve gone through a whole tub and am now onto my second. And it is helping with my regularity. It was especially helpful a few weeks back when a stomach bug basically ruined my entire weekend. I know that a few of my fellow bloggers have used this and liked it too.
And I am done! By the time this comes out, Emmie’s Beauty Life will be turning 7! I would like to take a moment to thank you all for following me along this crazy journey. And just know that there is still so much more coming. Anyways, I will be back on Tuesday with my May empties (yes, I am pre writing for my trip this time). Have an amazing weekend!
Cheers and love
Emily xo
