Wow, if I had a nickel for every time one of my friends convinced me to buy a Prada beauty product, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot. But it’s weird that it happened twice, right? In any case, I give full credit to this post to Minnie. Who shouted out the Pradascope Mascara a little while ago as a favourite. And that was basically enough convincing for me to try it. I’ve been playing with it for the last few weeks. I definitely have thoughts about it. So, let’s get into it!

PRASA PRADASCOPE LASH EXTENDING VOLUME MASCARA – $72.00 – adorebeauty.com.au

We’ll start with the packaging. The Pradascope Mascara is housed in a sleek, matte black tube witn a chrome handle at the top. The tube itself is textured. Not too dissimilar to the feel of mesh. There is silver detail on the tube but it’s otherwise very simple and elegant. The packaging is well weighted and sturdy. It doesn’t feel cheap at all. One thing I particularly like is that when you twist the handle, there is a click locking it into place. Which will help with the preservation of the formula .I would normally say here whether the mascara is vegan, cruelty free, or both. But I’m getting conflicting information from my research. So, if that is important to you, I would definitely look into that yourself. The Pradascope Mascara contains 7g of product.

The Pradascope Mascara is now the 93rd mascara that I’ve reviewed for the site. I bring this up because this mascara easily has one of the most unique brush heads I’ve ever seen. Prada calls this their 180° Lift & Grip brush. One side looks like a standard, synthetic fiber hourglass mascara wand (Prada makes a note to say that the fibers are actually recycled nylon). But the other side is just flat plastic. With Prada embossing, of course. I’ve seen wands with similar concepts (the L’Oreal Telescopic Lift springs to mind). But this is done way better. I use the full side to coat the lashes with product. And the flat side to separate and define the lashes. I have a very easy time using this wand. The size is great and it does go to a slight tip at the end. Meaning I can reach my inner lashes.

The formula of the Pradascope is fairly standard for a volumising mascara. Definitely on the thicker side with a moussey consistency, but dries down surprisingly lightweight. It’s a predominately wax based formula that coats the lashes well. But I did find on occasion that it could get a little solid and clumpy on the tips. The most noteworthy ingredient as far as lash health goes is Hyaluronic Acid, which is there to condition the lashes. I’m a little shocked there isn’t more there considering the price of this mascara, to be honest.

The Pradascope Mascara carries many of the claims that mascaras have. Length, lift, definition. But Volume is absolutely the one they’re pushing. And I can see why after applying. That thick formula coated my lashes very easily and the difference is stark. My lashes are bold, lengthened, and lifted. The formula layered surprisingly easily as well. This kind of thicker, whipped formula can occasionally get clumpy, as I previously mentioned. But I was able to comb out those clumps without any real issues.

Ok, so the lashes look great at the start of the day. But how did it wear? Not well, sadly. It’s been a minute, but we have a smudger on our hands here. It actually looks better in the picture then it did IRL. But the product collected both under the eye and especially in the outer corner of my eyelid. I didn’t see any flaking. Which wasn’t a huge shock considering the formula. But the smudging is a disappointment. A formula this pricey shouldn’t budge from the lashes until you need it to. Speaking of lashes, they held their shape nicely and I didn’t see any huge difference as far a drooping goes. If it didn’t smudge, we’d have a home run here.
All this to say, Prada is 0 for 2 now. I can’t bring myself to recommend the Pradascope Mascara. It’s far from the worst mascara I’ve ever tried. But like I just said, at $72, this is too expensive to have any faults. And the faults I do have are too big to ignore. So, this is a pass. But if you do try it for yourselves, please let me know! Have you tried the Prada Pradascope Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
