How about that for timing? Sephora has announced their Beauty Frenzy sale that will be going this weekend. And I have a new mascara to review that is available at Sephora. This time, we are chatting about the debut mascara launch from Haus Labs, the B Structural Volumzing + Lengthening Mascara. Honestly, I haven’t heard too much about this one from other people. So, I’m excited to share my thoughts. Let’s get into this review.

HAUS LABS B STRUCTURAL VOLUMIZING + LENGTHENING MASCARA – $49.00 – sephora.com.au

Starting as I always do with the packaging, the B Structural Mascara is housed in a sleek, mirrorised silver tube. There is black detail on the tube and the top of the tube has the H insignia that is on all of Haus Labs’s products. There is a slight amount of heft to the tube, but not as much as you would think. Otherwise, it’s sleek, modern, and very much in line with Haus Labs’s aesthetic. The B Structural is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 8ml of product.

The wand for the B Structural Mascara is one that I haven’t seen for a minute. I would best describe it as being a flat hourglass. You would use the flat side to coat the lashes with product. And the fanned out sides to separate and build length. There is also a little nub at the tip of the mascara that I suppose you use to reach the inner corner lashes. It doesn’t do much for me personally. I would carefully positon one of the fanned edges to reach those lashes. The wand uses synthetic fibers that are short, evenly separated, and rigid. There isn’t a ton of flexibility to this brush. But it is easy to use.

The formula does appear to be the big selling point for the B Structural Mascara. It’s touted as being the world’s first vegan B-Silk Powered formula. And the whole design of it is to not only create lengthened, voluminous lashes, but strengthen and condition the lashes underneath with repeated wears. The vegan B-Silk is apparently a whole new innovation exclusive to Haus Labs. A polypeptide that is meant to wrap around the lashes with a soft hold. So, in a perfect universe, no crunch and no flake. Consistency wise, this is a very thick, creamy formula that would expect to see with a volumising mascara.

First impressions of the B Structural Mascara were extremely positive. It was almost too easy for me to get some serious length, lift, and volume from this mascara. As I mentioned earlier, I would use the flat side to coat the lashes. And then the fluffy, fanned side to separate and build length. The great thing about this wand is that it was very easy for me to grab every single lash and evenly coat them with product. If I have a nitpick (and I’m contractually obligated to), I will say that this isn’t the most lightweight formula. I can feel the weight of this on my lashes. Especially when it’s still on the wet side. Other than that, yeah, I’m happy

Which brings us to the wear test. And here, we have something of a conundrum. From these pictures, you would be correct in assuming that this mascara wears extremely well. The lift is holding, there is only slight transfer and no noticeable flaking. Normally, I would have no complaints. But this is after I learned that you have to scrape all of the excess product off of the brush before you apply.
Yeah, one thing I forgot to mention earlier, this thick formula clings to the brush like you wouldn’t believe. And unless you want to have all of the smudge and transfer, you have to get the excess product off of the brush. You do that, you will have gorgeous, voluminous lashes that wear quite well. Otherwise, this mascara can become very messy, very quickly. I would go as far as saying it walks right up to the line of being clumpy and claggy on the lashes. It doesn’t take long for the formula to settle under the eyes, in the hood of my eyelids, and in the inner corner of my eyes. I’ll add in a picture when I can to demonstrate.

All that to say, no, I don’t recommend the Haus Labs B Structural Mascara. The effect it gives to the lashes makes it almost worth it. But the amount of work you have to do to make it wearable is too much. And considering the collection of mascaras that I don’t have to think about before I put them on, this one just doesn’t compete. Have you tried the Haus Labs B Structural Mascara? Let me know in the comments
Cheers and love
