Emmie’s Beauty Life Best In Beauty 2018 – Part 2 – Skincare

And welcome back! This is hopefully my last 2018 recap post and we are talking all things skincare. These are the products that I loved the most throughout 2018 and like the beauty favourites, I would repurchase these above anything else I tried. Heck, a few of these are repeat purchases! I’ll start with makeup removers. 2018 was the year that I stopped using makeup wipes as my primary makeup remover and I embraced cleansing oils in a big way. And my absolutely favourite from the ones that I tried was the CLINIQUE TAKE THE DAY OFF CLEANSING BALM. This was just a dream to use and it didn’t leave my skin super greasy or uncomfortable after using.

Next up is cleansers and I have two that I have adored this year. The GARNIER SKIN ACTIVE MICELLAR WATER FOR OILY SKIN has been my cleanser of choice for the morning. Unlike a lot of micellar waters I have used in the past, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tacky and it doesn’t burn my eyes when I use it near them.

For nighttime, it has to be the SKINSTITUT GLYCOLIC CLEANSER. Heaps of you guys recommended this cleanser to me back at the beginning of the year and it has now cemented itself into holy grail status for me.

Speaking of Glycolic Acid, my toner of the year was the PIXI GLOW TONIC. This is one of those products that was well worth the hype! It;’s gentle, but incredibly effective at what it does and if you’re in the market to try a new toner, this comes highly recommended.

A exfoliating scrub that I loved this year was the L’OREAL PURIFYING SUGAR SCRUB. It’s one of the first exfoliating scrubs I’ve come across that was rough enough to remove dead skin cells, but not so rough that it physically hurts to use.

Masks were a biggie for me in 2018 and I was constantly trying out new ones. But there was only one that make a permanent place in my heart. The SAND & SKY PINK CLAY MASK. This was something truly special. a deep cleansing mask that drew out impurities in my skin without drying it out. I especially loved it as a spot treatment for stubborn acne. I’m out of it at the minute and I miss it dearly!

Of course I have to mention my favourite moisturiser. And like the masks, I tried a lot of fantastic moisturisers this year. But if I was to buy one of them again tomorrow, it would have to be the TATCHA WATER CREAM. This is truly unlike any other moisturiser I have ever used. It’s so light on the skin and it soaks on so quickly, you’d swear you just splashed a bit of water onto your face. An honourable mention must also be made to the ORIGINS GINZING ENERGY BOOST GEL MOISTURISER. Another moisturiser that I loved this year that costs way less than The Water Cream.

Finally, there was one skincare product that I couldn’t live without this year. My CLARISONIC MIA 2. I know that it’s an investment, but I credit this more than anything else for the improvement in my skin overall.

And those are my skincare favourites of 2018! Now I can finally dive head first into 2019. And frankly, I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
