Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you all had an incredible week. We are wrapping up January with my review of the extremely viral and beloved Make Up For Ever Super Boost Skin Tint. I say beloved because this was a product that I saw pop up on so many best of lists last year. And when a product is being loved on that much, you know I have to give it a go. I’ve spent the last few weeks playing with it and I’m ready to share my thoughts. So, is the newest skin tint from Make Up For Ever worth the boost? Just keep reading!

MAKE UP FOR EVER SUPER BOOST SKIN TINT – $59.00 – sephora.com.au
*18 Shades Available*

We’ll kick this off with the packaging. The Super Boost Skin Tint is housed in a sleek, clear, soft plastic tube. The cap is a soft beige and there is red detail on the tube. It definitely stands out amongst the rest of the Make Up For Ever line. Which has been a makeup artist staple line for many years. But the packaging makes this an ideal skin tint to take traveling or simply to have on the go. The Super Boost Skin Tint contains 30ml of product.

The Super Boost Skin Tint comes out via an attached dropper at the top of the tube. At the bottom is a pressable pump to squeeze the product out. Personally, I don’t use that. There is enough flex with the plastic that I can just squeeze the sides and get the product I need out. But it is cool that the option is there.

The Super Boost Skin Tint has 18 shades in the range. And looking at the range online, on the surface, it appears pretty balanced. But when you have a closer look, there are some gaps that could be filled. The under tones leave a little bit to be desired. With there being no cool undertones in the mix at all (that shocked me). Many of the medium to medium tan shades do look similar from the online swatches. The differences are way more subtle than they should be. And if the swatches I’ve seen are to be believed, there is a sizable jump from shade 17 to shade 18. So yeah, like I said, definite room for improvement.
When it came to picking my shade, I will say, I did struggle with it. I initially bought shade 4 (light with golden undertones). Which ended up being too deep for me. I would later picked up shade 2 (fair with warm undertones), a far more suitable match. Luckily though, shade 4 will not be wasted. When I mix it and shade 2 together, it’s a good match for me when I have a bit of a tan. But I don’t consider this a product that is safe to shade match sight unseen.
Because we are talking skin tints, you already know that this is going to be a skin loving formula with a ton of skincare ingredients in the mix. The big one they are plugging is the Hyaluronic Acid. We all know what that does. Glycerin also features high. A fantastic ingredient for drawing moisture back into the skin. I also spotted Squalane and Polyglutamic Acid. All in all, this skin tint is a massive gulp of hydration for your skin.

Applying the Super Boost Skin Tint did take some getting used to. It’s a thinner, very slippery, dimethicone forward formula that hated a sponge or a brush when I tried to use them. The brush was particularly problematic. Legit turned my face into streak city. I quickly learned that I had to take a two pronged approach. How I do it is that I apply the product directly to the face, use my fingers to spread it out, and then use a sponge to even things out/remove any harsh lines. Still not 100% sure how I got it to work that way, but it did.
The Super Boost Skin Tint is described as being a medium buildable coverage with a natural radiant finish. For me, I would say it’s on the lighter side of medium. Enough coverage to even my skin tone out. But not enough to cover up my sun spots or some of my more intense discolouration (on my chin in particular). Finish wise, though, that I agree with. It does have the effect of freshly moisturised skin on me. Glowy, but not obscenely so. It is, in the truest sense of the word, a skin tint.

But now, we must ask the all important question. How does the Super Boost Skin Tint wear? Pretty well, if I’m being honest. I definitely got a better wear out of it than I expected I would. Especially considering how humid it’s been up north (trust me folks, I am BEGGING for this rain to go further south). I did notice it fading a little bit on my chin, most likely from resting my hand on that spot. But otherwise, it looks very even and natural on the skin. It’s an extremely comfortable skin tint to wear. I sometimes forget I’m wearing it (hence the chin touching). Most importantly though, it hasn’t broken me out! I do actually think my skin is improving the more often I wear this.
So, you can see where this is going, the Make Up For Ever Super Boost Skin Tint gets a thumbs up from me and a strong recommendation. It is worth all of the hype I’ve seen online. And if you have dry skin, you need this on your face immediately! Have you tried the Make Up For Ever Super Boost Skin Tint? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
