Me? Discussing vanilla perfumes in time for Valentine’s? Groundbreaking. But the most romantic time of the year is right around the corner (like, literally tomorrow). And you all know at this point how much I love talking about fragrance. So, I wanted to chat about three vanilla based fragrances that would be perfect for a date night. Whether it’s a first date or just a canoodle with your long time love, I can see these being fantastic options for you.

ODESSE VANILLA VANILLA EXTRACT DE PARFUM- $89.95 for 50ml
NOTES – Top: Bourban Vanilla, Jasmine, Orchid. Middle: Tonka Bean, Sugar. Base: Amberwood, Musk, Patchuoli
It’s rare that I get the opportunity to shout out an Aussie fragrance house (I should get better at that). But if I’m talking vanilla, I have to shout out Odesse’s Vanilla Vanilla. A fragrance so heady and good, they named it twice. For me, if the spectrum of vanilla goes from Floral to Gourmand, Vanilla Vanilla definitely leans more on the floral side of the spectrum. The Jasmine and Orchid adds a level of complexity to the top note that compliments the Vanilla perfectly. But the sugary sweetness is still absolutely there with the Tonka Bean and Musk. I can see this being a great all rounder fragrance that will work for anyone that wants to dip their toe into the vanilla world.

BY ROSIE JANE DULCE – $168.00 for 50ml
NOTES – Vanilla, Musk, Chocolate, Hinoki Wood
This one, however, is for the die hard gourmand girlies! I mean, those notes tell you everything you need to know about Dulce by By Rosie Jane. If I’m being totally honest with myself, it’s probably the least complex vanilla fragrance that I have in my collection. It’s tooth achingly sweet and sugary. But with a powderiness that stops it from being too cloying. I know this one is not for everyone. But I could easily bathe myself in this and if you were born with a compulsive sweet tooth, this is a must own. One more thing, if you’re someone who likes to mix their fragrances, this works amazingly for that too. I often pair this with Cheirosa 59. A combo that you need to smell to believe!

KAYALI OUDGASM VANILLA OUD 36 EDP – $68.00 for 10ml
NOTES – Top: Saffron, Praline, Pear. Middle: Bulgarian Rose. Base: Vanilla Sugar, Oud, White Musk, Cashmere Wood, Oakmoss
OK, confession time. Generally speaking, I am not a Oud fan. Now, don’t get me wrong, when the mood strikes me, I do love a more sensual, bordering on masculine fragrance. But Oud can be such an heavy note. And for me, it can drown out everything else that a fragrance has going on (MFK’s Satin Oud is one that springs to mind). Kayali Vanilla Oud is the exception to the rule. And is still the only Oud based fragrance that I actively wear. To make a long story very short, this just smells sexy, it’s as simple as that for me. It has such a warm, sensual, inviting quality to it. Almost a little bit spicy. The Vanilla and Oud are perfectly balanced with each other. No one note overpowers the other. It smells like you’re going to get folded like a deck chair. Which isn’t a terrible place to be.
And those are the vanilla’s that I’m currently rocking with. Now, go forth and love, people! Have a great weekend and I’ll catch you on Tuesday.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
