When it comes to doing my makeup, be it for an event or just for the fun of it, I do like taking my time to make sure it’s done the way I want it to look in my head. But there are also those occasions where I don’t have as much time as I would like to look presentable. And that’s where having a fool proof, five minute makeup look can really come in handy. So if you want to see how I do my everyday, five minute face, and learn some of my quick tricks, just keep reading!
STEP 1 – ALL ABOUT THAT BASE
No matter how much of a rush I’m in, I always start with clean, moisturised skin. Fortunately the moisturiser I’m using doubles as a primer so that’s one step I can skip entirely.
If I’m in a hurry, I like to keep my base super simple. And for those occasions, I always lean toward a BB or CC cream of some description. They provide enough coverage to get me looking somewhat presentable and most of the good ones contain some kind of SPF protection. Which is very useful for this time of year. My CC Cream of choice at the minute is still the IT COSMETICS CC CREAM OIL FREE MATTE SPF 40+. And I just use a beauty sponge to blend it in, making sure to take it down the neck and behind the ears.
If I feel I need it, then I’ll use a little concealer on my undereyes and on any particularly nasty blemishes (thankfully, my skin is behaving right now). I will then set my undereyes with a loose powder and the rest of my face with a pressed powder, just to lock everything in.
STEP 2 – THE EYES HAVE IT
This tends to be my lazy step because if I’m in a hurry, I’m not bothering with eyeshadow or a winged liner. I just use a really good mascara, which at the moment is the SMASHBOX SUPER FAN MASCARA, and a pop of a light coloured eyeliner in the waterline. This is actually a great way to brighten up the eye area with minimal effort. I’m personally loving the MAX FACTOR EXCESS INTENSITY EYELINER in Gold, but any nude, gold or champagne coloured eyeliner will give the same effect.
As for brows, I’m thankfully someone who has pretty full brows so I tend to not do a lot with them to begin with. Most days, I’ll just run my ESSENCE MAKE ME BROW through the whole of the brow, focusing on the sparser parts, and that is that.
STEP 3 – CHEEK TO CHEEK
This is a step that I sometimes skip out on, but if I’m in the mood, I do like adding a little bit of bronze and glow to my everyday look. On these occasions, I like just a general bronzer that I can quickly blend out on the cheeks and jawline (one advantage of a fringe? No forehead bronzing!). I have really been loving the MECCA MAX SUNLIT SKIN BRONZING POWDER at the moment. It has been my go to for summer because the tone is gorgeous on my skin and it blends like a dream.
As for highlighter? You already know it’s the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS X AMREZY HIGHLIGHTER. I just pop a bit on the cheekbones and that’s me done.
STEP 4 – NEVER WITHOUT LIPSTICK
If I’m in a hurry, the last thing I want to deal with is a liquid lipstick or anything fiddily like that. Usually, I’ll just pop on a clear lip balm or tinted gloss. But if I’m feeling fancy, a nude lip is my go to. And at the moment, I have been loving the TARTE RAINFOREST OF THE SEA COLOUR SPLASH LIPSTICK in Rum Punch.
