And just like that, it’s March. Which can only mean one thing. It’s time to do my twice a year check in on what my morning routine is looking like. And I will say that this routine is a bit of a shake up on my previous line up (you can find that one here). Many of the products in my last round up were on their last legs at the time of writing. And the products in my routine now are ones that I have been using for a while. So I have some definitive thoughts on them. So, let’s get into the routine!

STEP 1 – CLEANSE
Ha! Bet you thought I had Bioderma in my morning stash. As much as I love that particular micellar water, I do, on occasion, want to venture out and try other brands. And it has been a while since I last had the GARNIER SKIN ACTIVE MICELLAR WATER – $28.00 in my stash. So, I grabbed the jumbo size when it was on half off sale late last year. I mean, it is one of the best selling micellar water’s for a reason. It does exactly what I need it to do first thing in the morning.

STEP 2 – TREATMENT PART 1
And here is the sole carry over product from my last morning line up. Yep, I am still all about the GO TO SKINCARE CLARIFYING FACE HERO – $56.00. I don’t really have to explain myself with this one. It’s a staple of my routine now. And I will repurchase the split second I run out.

STEP 3 – TREATMENT PART 2
And now, onto the serums! I’ve been keeping it very simple and easy during the summer months. To add a boost of hydration, I’ve been using the GOOD MOLECULES HYALURONIC ACID SERUM – $6.00USD. It’s a very basic, no nonsense HA serum that I have no real complaints about. Then, to brighten, I’ve been using the GO TO SKINCARE MUCH BRIGHTER SKIN – $59.00. I got this as a freebie with a recent Go To order (thanks, by the way). So far, I really enjoy it! Not too harsh on the skin and I do notice it helping with my dark spots.

STEP 4 – EYE TREATMENT
I will admit that these days, I have to force myself to use an eye serum/cream/treatment. Which isn’t great when your pushing 40, but I digress. When I do get around to using one, the MECCA MAX CHILL OUT BRIGHTENING EYE CREAM – $22.00* is the one I’ve been reaching for most often. I do enjoy the metal tip as a soothing touch. But I’m honestly not noticing a huge difference with my under eyes when I use it. So, it might not be one I will get again.

STEP 5 – TONER
It might be odd that you’re only seeing a toner now. But recently, I’ve taken the advice of my good friend Minnie who suggested that milky toners should be used later in the routine as a preemptive moisturiser. And my milky toner of choice at the moment is the MECCA MAX MILK IT SOOTHING MOISITURE MIST – $30.00*. This actually made it into my favourites for last year. I like that it’s a thinner formula, but oh so calming on the skin. And it’s the perfect starter for my…

STEP 6 – MOISTURISER
Love it when I can do that. I’ve mentioned before that my preferred texture of moisturiser in the morning is something lightweight and hydrating. And I can’t go past the GLOW RECIPE CLOUDBERRY BRIGHT MOISTURE CREAM – $69.00*. It’s not too heavy, not too light. It soaks right into the skin and leaves the most subtle dewy look. I’ll be sad when this one is empty.

STEP 7 – SUN PROTECTION
With the UV Index hitting up to 13 here in the north west, sunscreen continues to be a necessity. Fortunately, my go to sunscreen is a long time fave. The THE BREAKOUT HACK SKIN SHADY SPF 50+ MOISTURISER – $39.95 (TGA Declaration – purchased myself). More often than not these days, I actually skip the first moisturiser and just use this. I adore this formula. It’s one that I have repeatedly gone back to. And because The Breakout Hack doesn’t send PR to me, I can brag about that from the rooftops. WEAR YOUR DAMN SUNSCREEN!
And that is a wrap on my morning routine. Not featured is brushing my teeth, eating my porridge, and all of the doomscrolling. But you get the general gist of it. Let me know what your morning routine looks like in the comments.
Cheers and love
