Hey, you remember back when I reviewed the viral Tir Tir Cushion Foundation that I said I would try more K-Beauty foundations? Yeah, almost 18 months later, I’m finally getting around to that. Today, I’m reviewing the Unleashia Satin Wear Cushion Foundation. Though Cushion is doing a little bit of heavy lifting. Why? You’ll have to keep reading to find out.

UNLEASHIA SATIN WEAR HEALTHY GREEN CUSHION FOUNDATION – $30.08 – yesstyle.com
*21 Shades Available*

Starting with the packaging, the Satin Wear Foundation is housed in an acid green compact style packaging with black detail. There is a button to open the compact. The compact itself is lightweight, but very sturdy. There is a mirror on the inside of the compact that is decently sized and practical for on the go. The Satin Wear Foundation is cruelty free, vegan, and contains 15g of product.

Now, as I eluded to at the start of this, the Satin Wear Foundation is and is not a cushion foundation. The packaging is the same, but the style of dispenser is completely different and one that I have not seen before. The Satin Wear Foundation is stored in a seperate, airtight cartridge that clicks into the compact. Once the compact is open, you press the cartridge to dispense the product through the 10 holes in the centre of the compact. You cannot click in the cartridge when the compact is open and you cannot press the cartridge when the compact is closed. Making it pretty mess proof. All in all, pretty genius design. And yes, you can repurchase the cartridges individually.

The Satin Wear Foundation has 21 shades in the line. It’s more shades than many other K-Beauty brands, but still well shy of the 40+ shades that brands like Tir Tir and Parnell have for their cushion foundations. Like many K-Beauty foundations, the majority of the shades lean on the fair to light side of the shade spectrum. And there are significant gaps where it pertains to their deeper shade range. But I do give them some credit for expanding their range to cater to a wider audience. I sincerely hope that they continue to expand their range.
As for me, I actually had the opportunity to swatch this in store (shout out La Cosmetique in Melbourne Central). I was initially torn between 22N Sienna and 23N Nude Beach. I ended up settling for 23N, light to medium with neutral undertones. It was maybe a hair deep for me when I was swatching it back in June, but in March, it’s a pretty spot on match.
As far as interesting ingredients go, there are a few noteworthy ones in the Satin Glow Foundation. We have Papaya Fruit Extract and Bakuchiol to help soothe the skin underneath. It also boasts a 76% water essence for maximum hydration. Most notably though, it contains SPF 30 PA++. But as we all know, we do not wear enough foundation to get the maximum sun protection benefits from it. Please remember to wear your sunscreen.

So, we’ve talked about the fun stuff, now we have to talk application. Because oh boy, this was a tricky one. Like many cushion foundation, the Satin Wear does come with a little puff to dab into the foundation. I didn’t hate the puff this time around, I still preferred using my beauty sponge to apply this. I got a more even coverage and a better(ish) blend. Especially around the contours of my face (around my nose and lips).
Where I did run into problems though was with this foundation wanting to separate before I had even pulled out the concealer! I found that especially my upper lip and forehead, this wanted to break apart on me. And it was especially noticeable when I had a primer underneath. It really wanted to slip and slide around then. I also noticed it really clinging to the peach fuzz on my face, making it look patchy and uneven. I had to be careful applying powder to it as that caused the finish to look cakey. And forget setting spray, that caused my makeup to run more than once.
The Satin Wear Foundation is described as being a medium buildable foundation with a satin matte finish. For me, I would say that it’s more satin than matte. I definitely had a glow, but not an obnoxious, tin can glow. Coverage wise, though, I can’t argue. My skin looks way more even, my discolouration is noticeably reduced, but my freckles are still visible underneath.

Getting into the wear test now, and yeah, the pictures don’t lie. This foundation was kind of a mess. You can see where it wore off my face throughout the day. Most notably on my chin and forehead. It’s full on separated up there. My cheeks have stayed more or less in tact and it hasn’t sunk into my lines as much as I thought it would. But my big nitpick is that I can feel this foundation on my skin throughout the day. There is a tackiness that I found particularly uncomfortable. And I did have to force myself to keep this on just so I could finish the wear test.
So, I think you can tell where this is going. I don’t recommend the Unleashia Satin Wear Healthy Cushion Foundation. Intruging packaging aside, this was difficult to work with and more difficult to wear throughout the day. I wouldn’t object to trying this again when it’s colder to see if it wears better. But if a foundation can’t survive a Mount Isa Summer, it has no place in my routine. Let me know if you’ve tried the Unleashia Satin Wear Healthy Cushion Foundation in the comments below. And as always, let me know your K-Beauty foundation recommendations.
Cheers and love
