Emmie Reviews – Essence Lash Princess Effect Mascara

Posted on March 27, 2026March 30, 2026 by emmiesbeautylifeadmin

Anyone who has been following along with my beauty journey will know that I have a long standing, one sided hatred of the Essence Lash Princess range. Listen, I know the price is right. But of the three that I’ve tried up to this point, the one constant they have is that they are smudgy, flaky, and messy on the lashes. Now, six years after roasting my first Lash Princess Mascara, I’m finally getting around to reviewing the OG Lash Princess. Now sure how this one eluded me for so long. But better late than never, I guess. So, is this the Lash Princess that turns things around for me? Just keep reading.

ESSENCE LASH PRINCESS EFFECT MASCARA – $7.00 -priceline.com.au

OK, normally I would talk about packaging here. But this is the fourth Lash Princess review that I’ve done. Also, it’s probably one of the most recognisable mascara tubes on the planet. Black plastic tube, mint green detail. That’s all I need to say. The Lash Princess Mascara is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 12ml of product.

The wand for the Lash Princess is a fairy stock standard brush head. Stiff, synthetic fiber bristles that wrap up to a point. It’s a long brush head, but not super wide. I do find it easy to maneuver around my lashes without making too much of a mess. And yes, past Emily, it is the same brush head as the Waterproof Lash Princess.

The formula, similar to the rest of the Lash Princess range, has a strong black pigment base. But like the rest of the range, is quite thick, whipped, and a little gunky. I also find that this is a formula that doesn’t necessarily dry down well. Like, I can feel it on my lashes. Not in a heavy way, but a sticky way, if that makes sense. The Lash Princess formula is very wax forward, which may explain it.

So, another constant that I’ve come across from using and reviewing Lash Princess Mascara’s over the years is that you need to build these up quite a bit to get any real effect to your lashes. Above is my usual two coats. And I will say that there is noticeable length and volume from that. Definitely more volume than length, but noticeable nonetheless. Where this mascara does fall down (an interesting choice of words) is the lift and curl. My lashes have the teensiest amount of lift. But on an angle, they do look flat on me.

Righty-o, time for the wear test. And predictably, it was a fucking disaster. Transfer? Check. Flaking? Check. Eyelashes straighter than a ruler? Check, check, and triple check! Listen, I do try to go into every wear test and review with no bias. But I knew this was going to be bad. And I was proven right. Heck, I think this formula is the worst my lashes have looked while using any Lash Princess Mascara. Just a flat, sticky mess that spoiled an otherwise good base day.

So yeah, I can finally put the Lash Princess series to rest. I don’t recommend the Essence Lash Princess Mascara. There are so many fantastic affordable mascaras out there. We can leave this one in the past where it belongs. Have you tried the Essence Lash Princess Mascara? Let me know in the comments.

Cheers and love
