Emmie Chats – My Night Time Skincare Routine

Posted on July 28, 2026July 27, 2026 by emmiesbeautylifeadmin

Sorry about the lack of post last week. I have jury duty again and it was a rough week. But I am back!

You know what I haven’t talked about in forever? My night time skincare routine. I think my reluctance in talking about it stems from the fact that unlike my morning routine, which tends to be very straightforward, I do use different products on different nights for my routine. I do have a tendency to over complicate things. But my skin has been in a really good place at the moment. And I do heavily credit my routine for that fact. So, I have made a vain attempt to streamline my entire routine to share today. Let’s get into it!

STEP 1 – First Cleanse
We’ll kick this off with the removal of whatever is on my face. Sometimes I do this when I get home from work. Other times, it’s after brushing my teeth before my shower. I just used up the Bioderma Cleansing Oil (more about that one in my empties coming soon). And I’m now using the ALPHA-H MELTING MOMENT CLEANSING BALM – $70.00*. This one is pricey, but worth the money. Very soft and emollient formula that breaks down my makeup with ease and rinses off without leaving my skin feeling like it has a film on it.

STEP 2 – Second Cleanse
I always do my second cleanse immediately after I get out of the shower. You know, when the pores are nice and open (I am being sarcastic. That’s not how pores work, btw). At the moment, I have been juggling between two cleansers. The BEAUTY OF JOSEON GREEN PLUM REFRESHING CLEANSER – $26.00* and the AVEENO NOURISHING OAT CLEANSER – $15.00. The BOJ contains very gentle exfoliants that cleanse the skin without feeling stripping. The Aveeno is a fan favourite that is so soothing and calming to my skin. I see why everyone loves it so much. Normally, I would also have a more exfoliating option in the lineup. But during winter, I do tend to lean towards more soothing options and leave the exfoliation to my serums.

STEP 3 – Mask It Up!
Ok. we have hit the point where my routine shakes up a little bit. I usually do a mask on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. And only if my skin is particularly angry and breaking out. Otherwise, if I’m pressed for time, this is the step I usually skip. When I am in a masking mood, though, my go to masks of the moment are the MURAD RAPID RELIEF SULFUR MASK – $82.00, the THE ORDINARY SALICYLIC ACID 2% MASQUE – $22.00, and of course, my beloved NIOD FLAVANOE MUD – $61.00. I also will occasionally slap on a sheet mask if my skin is angry in the other direction. The DR JART CERAMIDIN SKIN BARRIER MOISTURISING MASK – $69.00 for pack of 5 have been coming in clutch at the moment.

STEP 4 – Mister Mist
Before I go in with my serums, I like to give my skin a little mist action just to bring in some extra moisture. I’ve been smashing through the RHODE GLAZING MIST – $52.00 and have been legitimately enjoying it. To the point where I would consider getting it again over the Glazing Milk (I said what I said). But knowing that that one is on it’s last legs, I’ve recently pulled in the OLE HENRIKSEN PEACH GLAZE GLOW MIST – $49.00. This is very calming, super fine mist that adds a subtle glow to the skin.

STEP 5 – Serumy Good Time
Serums I tend to divide into two categories. We have the calming serums that I use every night. And the spicy serums that get their own designated nights. For the soothers, I have two that have been staples of my routine as of late. The CLEAR SKINCARE FIRMING PEPTIDE SERUM – $60.00* is my gentle anti-aging go to. And the THE ORDINARY SOOTHING & BARRIER SUPPORT SERUM – $29.10 helps support my skin barrier as well as adding a hit of moisture to the face. Sometimes I will rotate one of these with the CLEAR SKINCARE RESTORING SERUM – $60.00* which is kind of an all in one. It has the copper peptides to help with fine lines and collagen restoration.

As for my spicy boys, I have my good friends, Azelaic and Retinol. I use the THE ORDINARY AZELAIC ACID SUSPENSION 10% – $19.40 on Mondays and Fridays. And I use the GO TO VERY AMAZING RETINAL – $85.00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I find that this balance works best for me without pissing my skin off too much. The retinol, I love. I have no complaints. Go To slays it every time. The azelaic, on the other hand, I’m not the biggest fan of. The price is right, but I find the formula pills on me pretty badly. And I can honestly say I do not like it as much as the La Roche Posay. But please let me know your azelaic acid picks in the comments.

STEP 6 – Eye’s On It!
Ok, eye cream I can keep super simple. I’ve been using the MECCA MAX CHILL OUT BRIGHTENING EYE CREAM – $22.00* morning and night for the last little while. I have no complaints about this eye cream. I do enjoy the metal tip. But this one is also running low. So, recommendations in the comments please!

STEP 7 – Moisturise Me!
Ok, we are in the home stretch. Time to lock all this in and hit the hay. On my retinol nights, I am partial to using the SUMMER FRIDAYS JET LAG MASK – $43.00 to try and get as much extra moisture into my skin as possible. But I was also recently sent the new BORING WITHOUT YOU REM REPAIR MOISTURISER – $39.99*. And y’all? I can’t put it down. This is thick and soothing in the best possible way. My skin has been loving it at the moment.

And that is a wrap on my night time routine! I know on the surface that it looks like a lot of product for not a lot of mug. But in the end, it’s working well for me and I have no complaints. Let me know in the comments what your nightly routine looks like.

Cheers and love
