So, yeah. Full disclosure, probably should have gotten to this review a while ago. But better late than never, I guess. Today, I am finally getting around to reviewing the Rimmel Wonder Bond Lash Filler Mascara. The Wonder range from Rimmel has had mixed success from me over the years (loved the Wonder’Luxe, wasn’t a fan of the Wonder’Extenstion). So, let’s see where this one lands!

RIMMEL LONDON WONDER’BOND LASH FILLER MASCARA – $25.95 – chemistwarehouse.com.au

Kicking us off with the packaging, the Wonder’Bond Mascara is housed in pretty much the same style of tube as the rest of the Wonder range. The odd ovular tube that tapers off at either end. Colour wise, I would call it a cool toned chrome lavender with black detail on the tube itself. I do like it when brands keep consistent packaging in their range. The Wonder’Bond Mascara is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 11ml of product.

The wand for the Wonder’Bond Mascara is quite interesting. On paper, I should like it. Its a molded, curve style head with shorter bristles on the inside of the curve and longer bristles on the outside of the curve. The bristles, if you look super closely, are actually shaped like a tiny petal. Fatter in the middle and finer at the tip. The problem is that this brush is quite large in it’s size and the bristles on the top are maybe a touch too long. And with my eye shape, I have to be extremely careful applying this to my lashes otherwise I will ding myself. And have often.

The formula of the Wonder’Bond Mascara does appear to be the big selling point. It’s a much lighter formula formula than you would expect for a mascara that has volume as one of it’s major claims. And it’s more on the waxy side. Not too thick or heavy. But the pigment is deep and rich (Rimmel has always had excellent pitch black mascara formulas). There is also a Biotin Bond Complex in the formula to help strengthen and protect your lashes. And Hyaluronic Acid to help hydrate and nourish over repeat wears.

As far as application goes, this was the first time in a while that I struggled applying a mascara. The larger wand meant I had to maneuver my hand around a lot in order to not stab myself in the eye. I would use the underside to build the product up onto my lashes and then flip the wand around and use the longer bristles to help separate and define. That technique worked out pretty well for me. Though, if I am going to nitpick, I do wish that the tip of the brush was maybe a little bit finer. I particularly struggled somewhat with reaching the inner corner lashes on my left side without making a mess.
In terms of the appearance of my lashes, I was ultimately happy with how they looked. The volume was the most notable thing. I was shocked at how much I got considering how thin this formula is. I also got a decent amount of length and separation. What did surprise me was that I didn’t get a ton of lift from this. Again, considering how light this formula is, I figured that would have been a slam dunk.

But now, we must ask the all important question. How does it wear? After the wear test, pretty bloody well, actually. I thought perhaps I had some transfer under my eyes. Turns out those are my dark circles (my body is apparently allergic to sleep at the moment). I had no smudging, flaking, or transfer of product. So, points for that. As for the lashes themselves, like I said before, they held up pretty dang well. I don’t see any dramatic drooping. They look like they stayed pretty much in place all day.
All in all, I give the Rimmel Wonder’Bond Lash Filler a thumbs up and my recommendation. This is yet another winner in Rimmel’s long arsenal of terrific mascara. And I sincerely hope you all try it for yourselves! Have you tried the Rimmel Wonder’Bond Lash Filler Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
