It’s the end of the freaking week and I’m feeling awesome. Mostly because I have an all new foundation review to share with you all. Today, we are talking about the Kylie Cosmetics Silk On My Skin Tint Blurring Elixir. A mouthful of a name, but this review has been very highly requested for the last few months. And I am nothing if not a giver of makeup knowledge. I’ve spent the last few weeks using it behind the scenes and really putting it through it’s paces. Let’s get into this review!

KYLIE COSMETICS SILK ON MY SKIN TINT BLURRING ELIXIR – $45.00 – mecca.com.au
*24 Shades Available*

Kicking us off with the packaging, the Blurring Elixir is housed in a petite, flat ovular plastic bottle. The bottle is off white with the soft pink detail that has become synonymous with the Kylie Cosmetics brand since their relaunch. The shape is very interesting. I can’t say that I’ve seen a skin tint with this style of bottle before. But it would make it an idea skin tint to take traveling. The Blurring Elixir is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 30ml of product.

The Blurring Elixir is dispensed via an attached dropper at the top of the bottle. I often see this style for skin tint bottles as it allows the user a great deal of control when it comes to getting the amount of product that you require. Combined with the firmer plastic they used for the bottle itself, it was very easy to get a small amount of product out.

The Blurring Elixir has 24 shades in the range. Just from the swatches, the shades are fairly evenly divided. There is a good balance lighter and deeper shades available. And a solid mix of undertones (including warm deep tones and olive!). As always, I would love to see some expansion in the medium/tan range. But what we have here is pretty great, I won’t lie.
As for me, I wear shade 2.5N. Described as being light with neutral undertones. And this shade has now made it into my ‘shades I list whenever I’m using an online shade matcher’. Because it’s pretty spot on for my skin. Maybe a hair on the deep side, but not so much that it’s super noticeable.
The consistency of the Blurring Elixir is actually quite noteworthy. It’s on the thinner like your average skin tint. But as you’re smoothing it onto the skin, it doesn’t have that glide that I would normally associate with a skin tint formula. It’s more of a slippery consistency (the fact that dimethicone is ingredient three is not a surprise). And once it was blended in, it feels like it’s set in place. Which is why my preferred method of application was my hands. I had a very easy time tapping it into my skin to get an even coverage.

The Blurring Elixir is described as being a buildable light to medium coverage with a natural skin like finish. And I have to agree on both counts. I did attempt to push the coverage as far as I could as I was curious to see if this formula would pill the more I added (it didn’t!). I was able to get this to a medium coverage pretty easily. Enough coverage to even things out and cover my redness, acne scarring, and the annoying pimple on the left side of my jaw. In terms of finish, I would call it a natural matte. There is a bit of glow, but more skinlike than anything. Overall, my skin looked healthy and I had no complaints.

Which brings us to the wear test! And right off the bat, yes, I am a little shiny in that 5pm picture. But if that’s the worst thing I have to say about the Blurring Elixir, then I’ve had a really good day. This wore incredibly well on me over the 9 hours that I had it on. I didn’t have any sinking into my pores or lines. The coverage stayed even. I had no noticeable fading or product rubbing off anywhere. It was very comfortable and lightweight on the skin. My other products applied evenly without disrupting my base. I did notice it clinging to a small dry patch that I have on my chin. But that’s probably it.
All in all, god help me, I do recommend the Kylie Cosmetics Silk On My Skin Tint Blurring Elixir. Especially if you’re someone who has combo oily to just straight up oily skin. This might be the skin tint you’ve been waiting for. I am especially curious to try this again during the summer months to see if it still holds up. But in any case, as always, let me know if you’ve tried the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint in the comments.
Cheers and love
