Hey! I don’t have trust issues because of men. I have trust issues because makeup brands keep discontinuing products that I love and adore. And barely three months after the last time I did a post like this, I get to do it all over again. So, let’s get into it!
FENTY BEAUTY PRO FILT’R SOFT MATTE FOUNDATION
We’ll start with the one that we all sadly saw coming. Back in August, Fenty announced that they were discontinuing their iconic Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation. I believe this was due to the one-two punch coming from the EU regarding their bans that will be coming into effect in the next few months (yeah, there will be more discontinuations and reformulations in the pipeline). This news hit me with a touch of sadness. Pro Filt’r will be remembered as the foundation that sparked a makeup revolution. And it without questioned changed the industry. No longer was it acceptable for a make up brand to half ass their shade range. The foundation itself was polarising, but I found myself using it a ton even after I did the initial review. It had a stunning, slightly blurred finish on the skin and it really stood up well against a scorching hot summer’s day. Fenty has since released the Fluid Flex Foundation in it’s place. Which, yes, I do already have. Stay tuned for my thoughts.
HUDA BEAUTY WATER JELLY PRIMER
At this point, I think I just need to stop being surprised whenever I notice a beloved Huda Beauty product has been discontinued. They’re going through a rebrand. Some things are just going to get let go. But did they really have to discontinue the Jelly Primer?! Come on! It’s so good, and hydrating, and just a little bit tacky to help my makeup adhere to my skin. This one does hurt. And at this point, I think I just need to avoid the Huda Beauty site lest I discover something else I love has been let go.
MAC EXTRA DIMENSION BLUSH
Now this just pissed me off. What do you MEAN the Extra Dimension blushes are gone? You kept the highlighters *Em’s note: they may not have kept the highlighters*. But you got rid of the blushes? Now, if I were to guess, these got discontinued to make space for the new SkinFinish Blushes. Which are fantastic, don’t get it twisted. But for a super glowy blush with killer pigment, you couldn’t go wrong.
TOM FORD SHADE & ILLUMINATE BLUSH
And this is why I don’t buy from luxury makeup line’s anymore. You discover something you love, only for it to get taken away from you. This was such an exquisite blush formula. Enough of a sheen to look healthy, but not so much that it was entering tin man territory. Plus, this shade in particular is one of my go to’s for spring. Guess the hunt for a dupe begins now.
AURIC SMOKE REFLECT EYESHADOW DUO
For those who may have missed it, Auric announced that they were closing down at the start of last month. And of all of the Youtuber brands that have closed down in recent years, Auric is the one I am saddest about. Auric was the brainchild of Samantha Ravndahl, who was (and still is) one of my favourite people in the beauty Youtube space. She put so much love into this line. And it showed with the products that came out. These Smoke Reflect duos were so gorgeous, and unique in the realm of cream shadows. I don’t use them much anymore (I’m sure they’re long since expired). But they’ll always have a space in my makeup collection.
