My Wedding Day Makeup

Last Friday, on the 27th of March, I married my best friend and partner of 10 years at the Mount Isa Courthouse. This might been seen as a controversial move, seeing as there are all kinds of restrictions on gatherings right now (and for good reason). But because Dennis and I had always intended on having a small ceremony with only our witnesses present, that’s why we went ahead with it. It may not have been everyone’s idea of a perfect wedding, but it worked out well for us. Plus, when all of this craziness is over, we were planning on having a bigger party.

In any case, I did have quite a few of you ask me to talk about what makeup I was planning on wearing on my wedding day. And that’s what I’ll be talking about today. I had always planned on doing my own makeup and it’s still on the warm side here. So I wanted to keep my makeup on the fresh and light side. And I adore how it came out. So, if you want to know what my face looked like on my first big day, just keep reading!

STEP 1 – BASE
Starting with my base, I went in with my current favourite primer. The ULTA3 PERFECT BALANCE PRIMER. It’s a hydrating primer that has the benefit of smoothing out my pores. For a little something extra, I added a few dabs of the CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOORD FLAWLESS FILTER. For foundation, I bought out the big guns. The CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS FOUNDATION. This is one that has been in the review pile for a while, but I’ve been wearing it behind the scenes. It’s so stunning and it does leave your skin looking flawless. I brightened up my undereyes with the AUSTRALIS FRESH AND FLAWLESS CONCEALER and then set everything down with the RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION LOOSE FACE SETTING POWDER.

STEP 2 – EYES
I got my brows done on the previous Saturday but I still filled them in a little bit with the ARDELL PRO BROW POMADE just to even things out. I then went in with the palette that I knew I would use on my wedding day. The ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SOFT GLAM PALETTE. I used Burnt Orange and a little Sienna in the crease. And then I went in with Rose Pink all over the lid. I forwent eyeliner but I had to use mascara. And I chose my absolute favourite, the HOURGLASS CAUTION EXTREME MASCARA.

STEP 3 – CHEEKS
Before I set everything down with powder, I used the ULTA3 CONTOUR SCULPT STICK to add a little colour to my face. On that same vein, I added a hint of the TARTE AMAZONIASN CLAY BLUSH in BLISSFUL after I powdered. Finally, because this is a special occasion, I broke out my beloved ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS X AMREZY HIGHLIGHTER. I also added a hint of that to my brow bone and inner corner.

STEP 4 – LIPS
This was easily the fastest step because I knew I would have gone for a nude of some description. And I discovered an amazing combo. I wore the ULTA3 LONGWEAR LIP LINER in NUDE and the MAC LOVE ME LIPSTICK in LAISSEZ FAIRE. And I LOVED IT! It wore so well.

STEP 5 – FINISHING TOUCH
Quick story, when Dennis and I landed on our holiday last year, one of our first stops was to a Mecca Maxima. And when I was surveying the store, I saw the Maison Margiela Replica fragrances. I tried a few out and immediately fell in love with Springtime In A Park. Two hours later, Dennis proposed. And that’s how I decided that I would be wearing that scent on my wedding day!

Finally, I will wrap this post up with my favourite photo on the day. Sadly, due to current restrictions, I postponed my photographer. So, I’ll have the professional photos later. But my sister took this of Dennis and myself.
