When it comes to celebrity brands, Fenty Beauty reigns supreme. And it’s easy to see why. They are constantly coming out with interesting and innovative products that are actually shaking up the beauty game. But they did have one significant gap in their makeup line. And I had been eagerly awaiting a mascara release from them for the longest time. In January of this year, they finally granted my wish with the all new Full Frontal Mascara!
I have been putting this beauty to the test for the last few weeks and I have some interesting thoughts about it. So, if you want to know if I’m fully in love with the Full Frontal Mascara, just keep reading!
FENTY BEAUTY FULL FRONTAL MASCARA – $39.00 – sephora.com.au
Starting with the packaging, the mascara is housed in a sleek, simple tube. The cap is black and the tube then fades into a rose gold, metallic ombre. It’s very inline with her overall brand aesthetic, being very grungy and cool. The Full Frontal Mascara, like the entirety of the Fenty line is cruelty free and contains 12.5ml of product.
The brush on the mascara is easily one of the more unique wands that I’ve seen in my time. It’s a flat, almond shade with natural bristles. The idea being that you use the ‘fat side’ to build volume and then the ‘flat side’ to separate the lashes and add definition. This is a great idea in theory, as I found the flat side made it very easy to get that separation and length, but because the wand is on the larger side, I would always hit my eyelid with the brush.
The formula is thick and very black (in fairness, the shade is literally called Cuz I’m Black). I also found that due to that thickness, it can occasionally get a little clumpy on the lashes if I don’t take the time to wipe the brush off. So, that’s something to note.
I have to say, when I first tried this mascara, I wasn’t exactly enamored with it. Which was initially a shame because I have a high hit rate with Fenty. I really didn’t liked the brush and it took me a while to get used to using it the right way. I will admit the effect it gives to the lashes is lovely, but I can get the same effect from more affordable mascaras.
I wore this mascara for well over 10 hours and I have to say that I’m pretty unimpressed. This stuff transfers like crazy on my bare face and I was left with very smudgy under eyes. Which is a little ironic because it is a difficult mascara to remove at the end of the day (oil cleanser worked best for me). I also noticed that the lift that I had achieved at the start of the day had deflated by the end.
On the occasions where I was wearing a made up face, it did wear better but I still noticed some transferring during those times where I hadn’t baked my concealer.
Overall, sadly, the Full Frontal mascara is a bust for me. I like the idea of the brush head and the effect it gives my lashes is again, very nice. But I have mascaras that are half the price that do so much more and don’t leave me with the dreaded panda eyes. If you have drier under eyes, this might be better for you. But if you’re desperate to try it, I’d wait for the mini. Have you tried the Full Frontal Mascara? Let me know in the comments below!
Cheers and love

Wow I can see what you mean with the smudging underneath, I haven’t tried it yet and i was a bit cautious to get it because it can be hard to find a great mascara, I think I’ll stick to the Essence Lash Princess for me. It’s a lot more affordable and does a very good job for me.
I’ve said it a thousand times. I hate smudgy mascaras! Thanks for reading
