Emmie Reviews – Huda Beauty Birthday Mystery Bag

For as long as I’ve been doing this blog, I’m genuinely surprised that I don’t do more mystery boxes. Sure, I do my Bellabox’s each month. But that’s basically it. Most of the time, it’s due to a lack of interesting brands doing them. But the other issue is that when an interesting brand does do one, they usually sell out before I get a chance to grab one.

Such is the case for Huda Beauty. They often do mystery bags or boxes throughout the year. And I always find myself kicking myself because I didn’t get one when I had the chance. Long story short, Huda’s mystery bags are usually really good and worth the money *in my opinion*. So when she did one for her Birthday a few weeks back, I immediately grabbed it. It arrived last week and oh boy! The goodies that I scored! If you want to see what I got, just keep reading!

The items came packaged in this massive holographic bag. And when I say massive, I mean it! I’m heading away on a quick trip next month and this could easily carry not only my makeup. But my skincare as well. I’m fairly certain you can buy this on the Huda Beauty website. I believe it comes as a set of two.

Inside the bag was a big old bunch of samples. A lot of these are from Huda’s skincare line Wishful. But there were a few makeup samples in the mix too.

Now, the fun bit! These are this six products that I got. I paid $105 for the mystery bag (well, technically I paid $90. Huda has a loyalty program and I was able to cash in some points). And the total value of the bag is supposedly over $200. So, let’s do some math!

The first thing (and the silhouette that convinced me to add to cart) was the WISHFUL YO GLOW ENZYME SCRUB – $30.00. This is one of those exfoliators that ‘ball up’ on your skin and I adore it! Easily my favourite physical exfoliant and I will die on this hill. The only reason why I don’t already have it is because I have one from Pixi that is decent but not nearly as good.

Next up is the WISHFUL GET EVEN ROSE OIL – $36.00. Now, I won’t lie, this was the closest I came to being disappointed in this bag. I was sincerely hoping for the Thirst Trap HA serum which, cringey name aside, is really good. But the things I have heard about this oil are also really positive. It’s rosehip oil based, which is supposed to be amazing for your skin in it’s own right. But there are a ton of other interesting ingredients that make me intrigued to try this. Stay tuned!

Now we are getting into the makeup. And firstly we have one of the POWER BULLET CREAM GLOW LIPSTICK – $35.00. This is in the shade Sweet Cheeks and it’s a gorgeous brown based nude. An easy shade to wear for day to day. And I do love this formula. Very smooth and comfortable.

Staying with lips, we have one of the LIP CONTOUR 2.0 LIP PENCILS – $28.00. This one is in the shade Honey Beige, again, an easy to wear neutral shade. I actually picked up this lip liner quite recently. But seeing as I have already used a sizable chunk of that one, I don’t mind having a back up. I wear it a lot.

Finally, we have a few eye goodies. We have the LIFE LINER DUAL ENDED EYELINER – $35.00. I was super stoked to see this here. The amount of times that I have had this in my cart only to take it out at the last second is too many to count. Like the name says, this is a dual ended liner. With one side being a black eyeliner pencil and the other being a brush tipped liquid liner. I’ve never tried a brush tipped liner before. But I have heard that they are easier for beginners to use.

Finally, we have the LEGIT LASHES DOUBLE ENDED MASCARA – $39.00. I have reviewed this one in the past. And I just finished it up recently. So I am quite happy to have another one in my collection. The mascara has dual wands. One side for volume and one side for lengthening.

And that’s everything that I got. The value of the products comes to $203.00. Which is close to double the sale price. So I like to think that I got a good deal. Before I wrap this up, below are a few swatches of the products.

So, that’s my Huda Beauty Mystery Bag. Like I said, I’m pretty stoked with with I got. And you’ll probably hear my more in depth thoughts on each of these at a later date. If you spot one of these Mystery Boxes, I say grab one if you can. Especially if you’re a Huda Beauty newbie.
