If you had told me a year ago that the biggest trend in the beauty space is tinted moisturisers, I don’t think I would have believed you. But here we are in 2021 and full coverage is out, skin tints are in! And gone are the days of two shades of orange. We are getting actual full ranges which I love to see. So when my fave, Huda Beauty, launched the GloWish Multi Dew Skin Tint back in June of this year, I had to grab it and see it for myself.
Now, this took me a while to get to (clearly), but I have been trialing it behind the scenes for around a month and I have thoughts. So, if you want to know if Huda is providing the glow, just keep reading!
HUDA BEAUTY GLOWISH MULTI DEW SKIN TINT – $55.00 – hudabeauty.com (13 shades available)
The Multi Dew Skin Tint is housed in a really sleek, simple plastic tube style packaging. The tube clearly shows the shade and the detail is a matte white. For a product like this, I do enjoy this style of packaging as it’s easy to chuck it into a gym bag or for taking away for a holiday. The Multi Dew Skin Tint is vegan, cruelty free and contains 40ml of product.
The product is dispensed with a plastic pump on the end of the bottle. While I’m normally not a fan of plastic pumps (they tend to break easily), I think this one is really well constructed as I have quite a bit of control on how much product I can dispense.
The Multi Dew Skin Tint has 13 shades in the line. Now, a shade range that low would normally disqualify it from my reviewing contention. But I’m bending that rule for tinted moisturiers/skin tints because the whole idea behind them is that they are so low coverage, one shade could, in theory, be used between multiple different skin tones. And the Huda range is actually really well spread out.
Having said that, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing maybe one extra shade on the pale end of the spectrum. I say this because I actually had a hard time choosing my shade to begin with. I initially went with Shade 3-Light. But quickly discovered that it was way too dark for me (incidentally, that’s why you’re getting this review in November). I then picked up Shade 1-Fair with the idea being that I could mix the two shades together. And while that did work out for me (as you’ll see in my test shots), I can just as easily wear Shade 1 on it’s own. The shades slightly oxidise on the skin to better match and I am curious to see how this will go on someone who is lighter than me.
The formula on the Multi Dew Skin Tint is also worth talking about. It’s quite thick and it almost has a gel-cream like consistency to me. It also feels slightly slippery on the skin as I’m blending it out. I found that I generally preferred a sponge or my fingers when it came to blending this. It usually depended on a) how much coverage I wanted. And b) how lazy I was feeling that morning.
One thing I will note about this is that unlike a few skin tints that are on the market, the Multi Dew Skin Tint does not contain an SPF. And Huda has a video explaining why on her Instagram. But long story short, because you really don’t need a lot of this product, you wouldn’t be using enough to get the full coverage from it. So, please make sure you wear a good sunscreen before applying this. Or any foundation really.
The Multi Dew Skin Tint is described as being a light to medium coverage with a dewy finish. And they were bang on when it comes to the dew. I distinctly remember the first time I applied this thinking ‘what fresh hell have I done?’ Because it’s so dewy! I had seen some people say that it was giving them what I could only reiterate as ‘Tin Man Realness’ because they had an almost metallic reflect. I can’t say that I had that problem, but I definitely had to set this with a mattifying powder to settle down that dew. In fact, oily skin folk, I would stop reading now because unless you like the super dewy look, I can’t in good conscious recommend this to you. I can almost guarantee that you will hate this.
As far as coverage though, it’s definitely good for day to day. I would usually go in with one and a half pumps overall (if I’m mixing, one pump of Fair, half pump of Light) and then blend that in. It’s just enough coverage to even things out. But my freckles, healing blemishes and dark spots were still very visible. I would usually go in with concealer for those.
As far as the wear goes, it’s not the worst. But it’s not being plugged as a long wear product either. I did notice as it got hotter that I did need to powder as my oils were starting to break through. And I did also noticed it wearing off on my forehead (the forehead is because of my work hat). Having said that, it didn’t cause any noticeable separation and it held up on the rest of my face pretty well during a standard work day. Especially considering the fact that we have been getting into the high 30’s again temperature wise (13 days until summer, everyone!). It didn’t sink into my pores or line either, which is a small win in my book.
All said and done, I’m not entirely sure I can recommend the Huda Beauty GloWish Multi Dew Skin Tint. While I was able to make it work, it’s definitely not for everyone. If you’re on the drier side, I think you might enjoy this. But I would strongly recommend getting a sample first. And if you’re on the oilier side, like I said earlier, skip it. I am fairly positive that there are better products for you out there. Have you tried the Huda Beauty GloWish Multi Dew Skin Tint? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. And let me know which skin tint you want me to review next!
Cheers and love
