It’s been almost two years since I did the original Eyeshadow Palette tag post on here. So, when I saw that the fabulous Samantha March and Allie Glines did a sequel tag, I knew I had to jump in and do my own take.
The tag is very much the same as Part 1. There are 11 categories this time and I have a palette for each of them. And for a bonus challenge, because I have done this post in the past, I wanted to avoid any palettes I mentioned the first time. So, if you want to check out my take on this tag, just keep reading!
ALL TIME FAVOURITE
Out of all of the categories, this was the one that I had the hardest time with. I love all of my palettes and I own them all for a reason. So, the way I went about answering this was I asked myself a simple question. If I were to lose all of the palettes that I owned PRIOR to 2021, which one would I repurchase first. Then the answer became clear. The NATAHSA DENONA BRONZE PALETTE – $100.00. This palette has been the workhorse of my palette collection ever since I bought it. If I want to do a basic neutral look, If I want to chuck a matte in my crease, heck, if I don’t want to think too hard about my makeup that day. This is the palette I turn to. She’s basic and she’s beautiful and I genuinely wouldn’t be without it.
NEW FAVOURITE
This category, however, was dead easy. The PAT MCGRATH MOTHERSHIP IX: HUETOPIA DREAM – $200.00. The perfect mix of neutrals and fun colours. So, so good. No notes.
KEEP FOR THE MEMORIES
I did want to avoid doubling up my answers. But I just have so much nostalgia for the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SOFT GLAM EYESHADOW PALETTE – $72.00. Not only did I wear this on my wedding day, I recently remembered that this was the first eyeshadow palette that I reviewed for Emmie’s Beauty Life! So no, I don’t think I’ll ever part with this palette.
UNDERRATED
Ok, this might be my worst makeup opinion. The FENTY BEAUTY SNAP SHADOW EYESHADOW PALETTES – $41.00 are good, actually. I am not even kidding. Fenty’s eyeshadow formula gets pretty heavily slammed online. And while it’s not out of this world amazing, I reckon it’s great. Especially these palettes. They are pigmented, easy to blend, and they have a pretty decent wear time. Bonus, because they aren’t popular, they do go on sale pretty regularly. So, if you slept on these, I say give them another chance.
NOT A FAVOURITE BUT CAN’T GET RID OF
I don’t consider myself a makeup collector. But for the life of me, I cannot resist the 18 pan Huda Beauty palettes. It’s the only palette ‘series’ in which I own every single one. Which is why, even though it’s long since expired and the formula is pretty meh to today’s standards, I’ll never get rid of the HUDA BEAUTY ROSE GOLD TEXTURED SHADOW PALETTE – discontinued. This, to me, is a piece of makeup history. It’s Huda’s first palette. And it’s arguably the product that put her on the makeup map.
FAVOURITE COLLAB
I actually don’t own a lot of collab palettes, surprisingly. So this one kinda wins by default. The DOSE OF COLORS X KATY & DESI FRIENDCATION PALETTE – discontinued. This was my introduction the the Dose of Colors eyeshadow formula (which is super slept on, BTW). And it has so many fun shades and textures. This whole collection (parts one and two) was pretty amazing. I do wish that Dose of Colors was easier to get in Australia because they have a ton of bangers.
2021 FAVOURITE
I mean, I did just do my 2021 favourites a few weeks ago. But if you need the refresher, the PAT MCGRATH MOTHERSHIP: SUBLIMINAL – $200.00 is ultimately the one that came out on top. And if you want to dip into the world of Pat McGrath, this is still the palette I recommend you check out first.
DIDN’T EXPECT TO LOVE
Ok, funny story. I, for the life of me, cannot remember when or how I got this palette. I mean, I had to have ordered it from somewhere. I just can’t remember where. In any case, the CHARLOTTE TILBURY EASY EYE PALETTE in CHARLOTTE DARLING – $85.00 was definitely a palette I didn’t think much of at first. But then I used it for two months straight. So what do I know?
PALETTE THAT SPARKS JOY
TRIXIE COSMETICS PLANT GAY EYESHADOW PALETTE – $69.00. I’m a queer woman who has worked in horticulture for 12 years. It’s like this palette was made for me! It’s actually what I’m wearing on my eyes as I write this (Cottagecore in the crease, Bi-Coastal and I Mist You on the lid). And how can you not smile while you look at it?
NEWEST PALETTE IN YOUR COLLECTION
The most recent palette purchase is the answer to the final category. But the MAKEUP REVOLUTION X ROXXASAURUS COLOUR BURST PALETTE – discontinued is the newest one to arrive at Emmie’s Beauty Life HQ. I got this through my Bellabox and while I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, the colour story looks like a ton of fun!
FIRST PALETTE USED IN 2022
I actually didn’t wear makeup at all in January. The start of a new year always leaves me in something of a funk. But on Tuesday morning, I woke up and slapped the BYREDO FIVE COLOUR EYESHADOW PALETTE in DYSCO – $106.00 all over my lids because I wanted to. And you know what? This is a really lovely formula. More satin than metallic, but they layer and blend really well. And I was actually quite impressed by how well they wore throughout what ended up being a particularly hot and humid day.
And that is the Eyeshadow Palette Tag Part 2! I want to thank Allie Glines and Samantha March for making this tag. And of course, I tag anyone who wants to do this. Also, let me know if you do. I would love to see your results!
Cheers and love
