At the end of every year, I take an afternoon and do a massive declutter of my makeup collection. Now, these declutters are pretty cutthroat and very few products are safe. One of the few exceptions, however, are my Nars eyeshadows. I will forever die on the hill that these palettes should be permanent parts of Nars’s collection because they are just that good. The formula is incredible, the colour stories are inspired, and they are pretty universal. So, for a bit of fun today, I wanted to show you my current collection and swatch them all out for you. I truly love all of these palettes. Let’s dive on in!
NARS COSMETICS WANTED MINI EYESHADOW PALETTE
Ok, even I have to admit that this palette is a gimmick and a half. This came out, I believe, back in 2019. And the only reason why I bought it was because the OG Wanted palette had long since sold out and I thought this was the only way I was going to get it (see next palette for how well that went) . In any case, I don’t necessarily regret buying it at all. It’s fantastic for travel and for lazy makeup days. But I also remember it being quite pricey ($38 if I remember correctly). I know that Nars still does these mini palettes from time to time. These I would wait for a sale.
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Satisfaction, Delirium, Mendoza, Shooting Star, Shadow Hill, Wicked Game
NARS COSMETICS WANTED EYESHADOW PALETTE
The utter chokehold this palette had on the Aussie Beauty Community back in 2018-2019. There was hardly a week that went by that I didn’t see one of my favourite Aussie bloggers featuring this palette on their Instagram page. And all you have to do is look at that colour story. It’s easily one of the best that Nars has ever done. The right balance of warm and neutral shades. The mattes are rich and buttery. The shimmers are like silk. And those metallics? Need I say more?
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Biarritz, Satisfaction, Delirium, Temptress, Seven Heaven, Shadow Hill, Mendoza, Wicked Game, Shooting Star, LA LA, Fallen Star, Coconut Grove.
NARS COSMETICS COOL CRUSH EYESHADOW PALETTE
This is actually the most recent palette to come into my collection. It being the sister palette to the Afterglow Palette. And I probably wouldn’t own it at all were it not for Beauty with Lauren. Who has talked this palette up non stop over on her Instagram page. It’s absolutely one of Nars’s more unique colour stories. The mix of blues and reds is one you don’t see all that often. But they all work together well. I enjoy this palette the more I use it.
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Soft Chill, Sexed, Superclass, Nylon, Fresh Cut, Inception, Prowl, Shake It, Feist, Ganges, Risk, Isolde II
NARS COSMETICS AFTERGLOW EYESHADOW PALETTE
But in my eyes, few palettes hold a candle to the Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette. This palette is a slam dunk. So many stunning warm oranges, browns and pinks. It’s a sunset in an eyeshadow palette and I’m mean it 100% when I say if you ever see this palette available, buy it immediately! You won’t be disappointed.
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – First Taste, Shadow Hill Hot Line, Whipped, Crushed, Mad Love, Push It, Riding High, Bayadere I, Trouble, Deep Cut, Guayaquil.
NARS COSMETICS EXTREME EFFECTS EYESHADOW PALETTE
Yeah, I’ll admit it. This is the palette that I’ve used the least out of all of the palettes that I own. It’s not that I don’t like the colour story. I actually think the combo of peaches and purples is very cool. But this is a very seasonal palette to me. And for me, this screams Winter. The formula is as good as all of the other palettes. Maybe I should pull this out for a while.
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Endowed, Roleplay, Take Control, Private Eye, Pulsing, Full Potential, Blow, Tantric, All The Way, Code Red, Staredown, Uncensored Black
NARS COSMETICS SKIN DEEP EYE PALETTE
I was pretty effusive in my affection for the Afterglow palette. But if there was one palette that Nars needed to bring back and make permanent, it would have to be the Skin Deep palette. This palette is a makeup artist’s dream palette. The balance of cool, warm and neutral tones? Chef’s Kiss. I also love that they have the four larger pans that are multiuse. I have used that yellow shade as an undereye powder. And I have definitely used that warm brown as a bronzer. Nars, this is my plea. Make this permanent!
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Taunt, Sophia, Whipped, Undressed, Bali, Icon, Basic Instinct, Coconut Grove, Centrefold, Calendar Girl, Faster Pussycat, Unbuttoned
NARS COSMETICS BIJOUX EYESHADOW PALETTE – $84.00
Oh my goodness! A Nars palette that is still available (at the time of writing). This was their holiday release for 2021. And when I saw those greens and pinks, I knew I had to have it. This is Nars’s first 16 pan eyeshadow palette and it’s their first palette to feature their new glitter formula. It’s described as a topper, but they actually wear really well on their own.
SHADES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – Under Your Skin, Devotion, Copycat, Fuel The Fire, Do It Again, Limelight, Pandemonium, Thrill Seeker, Dirty Deeds, On Fire, Get Hot, Midnight Rider, Idolized, Go Deep, Girl Gang, Powerhouse.
And those are my Nars palettes! I love just how unique they are. No two are the same (I mean, except for the mini). And I can’t wait to see what Nars comes out with this year! Let me know which is your favourite is in the comments below, and also, if you own any Nars palettes.
Cheers and love
