Well folks, February is almost over. The days are beginning to get shorter, there is a slight chill in the breeze. Autumn is absolutely on it’s way!
Having said that, just because the temperature is going down, doesn’t mean the UV index will be too. Speaking for myself, here in Mount Isa, our UV Index can still be as high as 13 during the Autumn-Winter months. Which is why it’s still so important to wear sunscreen every single day as a part of your skincare routine.
Thankfully, these days, there is an abundance of amazing sunscreens on the market to suit everyone and any budget. And today, I wanted to shine a spotlight on three of my more affordable faves. These are all Aussie made sunscreens with organic filters that are so easy to wear. And, they are all under $25! So, if that interests you, keep on reading.
BONDI SANDS HYDRA UV PROTECT SPF 50+ FACE FLUID – $19.99
I feel like this little blue bottle needs no introduction with y’all. It was in so many 2021 favourites posts (mine included). But in case you want the refresher, the Face Fluid from Bondi Sands is an absolute ripper of a sunscreen. It has a thin, liquidy texture that sits on the skin so nicely. I’ve described the feeling as being almost velvet like on the skin. It’s agreeable on most skin types (my drier skin loves this in winter). And it works well under makeup. Heck, the thin texture makes it a breeze to reapply on top of makeup as well! If you still haven’t tried this, I cannot recommend this enough.
CANCER COUNCIL FACE DAY WEAR FLUID MATTE SPF 50+ – $18.95*
Quick confession time. I’ve had mixed success with the facial sunscreens from The Cancer Council in the past. The tinted BB Creams are actually pretty good but I genuinely didn’t like the Matte Face Day Wear Moisturiser. So, when this newbie came across my desk, I was a little apprehensive to try it. Thank goodness I did, this stuff is a home run! And I think it all comes down to the formula. Consistency wise, it’s very similar to the Bondi Sands one in that it’s super liquidy and thin. But where the Bondi Sands left my skin feeling soft and velvety, this one really does leave my skin matte. The feeling is comparable to a smoothing primer on the face. But without the occasional heaviness or balling up. This is very lightweight and comfortable and I love it a lot. If you are combo-oily, you need to try this for sure!
11 PEARLS SUNSCREEN LOTION SPF 50+ – $24.95
Finally, here’s one for my drier skin friends who want a one-two punch of sun protection and hydration. Consistency wise, this one from 11 Pearls is a proper lotion. Not super thick, but very creamy. Now, normally I steer clear from more creamy, lotiony formulas in my sunscreens as they have a tendency of being a bit too much for even my dry skin. The line between hydrated and greasy can be very fine with me. But this one is different. It actually soaks into the skin somewhat and doesn’t leave it feeling wet and uncomfortable. And it gives a lovely luminosity to the face. During summer, I’ll happily wear this as my daily moisturiser on it’s own. But in winter, I do wear this in conjunction with my regular moisturiser.
And that is my Spotlight On SPF’s on a budget! I hope I introduced you to some new faves here. And as always, let me know what your sunscreen must have are in the comments below!
Cheers and love
