In the world of beauty, there are few things more annoying than discovering a bomb product only to later find out that it’s been a) reformulated, b) discontinued, or worst of all, c) limited edition. And it occasionally makes my job as a makeup reviewer very hard. Because I hate talking about products that people can’t buy anymore. In any case, today I wanted to shine a spotlight on five products that I genuinely love and I would give my left tit for them to become permanent in their respective lines. So, let’s get to it!
URBAN DECAY BACKTALK EYE & FACE PALETTE
YEAR RELEASED – 2018
This was the product that ended up inspiring this post. I still remember being so devastated when I initially missed out on this palette back when it had it’s first launch. It was only when Mecca bought it back for one of their sales that I finally managed to grab it. And I don’t regret it at all. Quality wise, Urban Decay can be very hit or miss. But I love the softness of these shadows and they blend so beautifully. The cheek products are also stand outs. I truly use this palette all the time and I’m lowkey worried that I can’t replace the shadows when I do use them up.
NARS SUNKISSED BRONZING CREAM
YEAR RELEASED – 2021
For the last couple of months, I’ve been working behind the scenes on my ‘best of the best cream bronzers’ post. And every day, it has driven me more and more crazy that I cannot include this one from Nars. Because this blows the powder version of Laguna out of the water. Such a beautiful, rich, golden bronze glow. Whoever decided that this would be the product that they made limited edition should be bopped on the nose. Make this one permanent, Nars! And also, bring out more shades. This formula is too good to not share.
*Em’s Note: May 2022* It has just been announced that not only is this becoming part of Nars’s permanent line, they are adding more shades as well! Victory!
CHANTECAILLE FLOWER POWER CHEEK SHADE
YEAR RELEASED – 2021
Truth be told, the only reason why I bought this was because I thought the packaging was awesome (and I’m right, it is). But it was after I played around with it a few times that I realised that the formula itself was utterly beautiful too. It can be worn sheer, but it’s buildable. Such a gorgeous kiss of colour to the cheeks. And I because curious to see what other shades Chantecaille had in their line. Imagine my horror when I discovered that there were no other shades. Nope, nada, nothing. This peachy pink was *at the time of writing* it. I was gutted and I do sincerely hope that they bring this one back one day. With more shades to boot!
DOSE OF COLORS X DESI & KATY LIPSTICK in MORE CREAMER PLEASE
YEAR RELEASED – 2017
I have more nude lipsticks that I know what to do with. And yet, one of my absolute favourites is one I can’t talk about anymore because it’s long since gone. More Creamer Please was from round one of the Desi and Katy collab with Dose of Colors. And this lipstick shade was what convinced me to make the purchase. In the above pic, I’ll admit, it doesn’t look that special. But it’s a yellow toned, warm brown nude! I absolutely adore yellow toned nudes and they are still so difficult to find these days. I keep this shade around on the vain hope that I find a dupe that scratches that itch. And I do still wear it from time to time because the formula is phenomenal.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS X AMREZY HIGHLIGHTER
YEAR RELEASED – 2018
ABH has spent the last couple of years floating on and off my makeup shit list (might talk about it one day if I’m feeling spicy). And while I’m not 100% saying that bringing back the Amrezy highlighter will make things better. All I’m saying is maybe don’t discount it as an option. I mean, there is a reason why the Amrezy highlight is still raved about almost 4 years since it’s initial release. From the exquisite packaging, to the simple pan style, to the absolutely blinding glow that it gives. This was Anastasia Beverly Hills’s Magnum Opus and they haven’t done better than this. Especially as far as their face products go.
And those are some products that I love and can’t ever replace! We all have our unreplaceable products so let me know what yours are in the comments below!
Cheers and love

It is so annoying when a product is a special edition or discontinued. I have the UD BackTalk palette and I love it, the cheek colours are so perfect! It is so good you managed to pick it after the launch.
