I’ve spoken many a time on this website about my affection for Huda Beauty. Specifically, her incredibly vast number of eyeshadow palettes. And seeing as I’ve already done a post swatching all of her big 18 pan palettes, I figured it was about time I swatched her smaller, 9 pan Obsessions range as well.
Now, unlike the 18 pan series, I do not own every single one of the Obsessions palettes. There have actually been too many to count now at this point as she releases a new collection of them fairly often. But I have enough to have a little swatch party of my own. So, that’s what we are going to do today.
Before I start, however, I’ll be doing things a little differently this time. Firstly, It wasn’t until I decided to do this that I realised that out of the eight Obsessions palettes that I own, more than half of them have been discontinued (I’ll note them as I do them). I’m sure you can still find them on places like Depop and Glambot. But not on the official Huda Beauty site. Also, unlike the 18 pan palettes, these shadows are individually named. Not hugely important, but still worth noting. Ok, that’s it for the admin, let’s do some swatching!
ORIGINAL OBSESSIONS PALETTE COLLECTION
WARM BROWN OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – Discontinued
MAUVE OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – Discontinued
CORAL OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – Discontinued
Ahh… The range that started it all.. These initially launched back in late 2017 soon after the Desert Dusk palette. If I remember correctly, there were four varieties in this original collection of palettes (I didn’t own the Smokey or Electric palettes). With the above Coral and the Gemstones palettes launching in 2018. And while I remember liking these palettes at the time (the Warm Brown was a particular favourite of mine). I think even Huda would admit that this formula isn’t her strongest. The mattes are quite patchy and dry. And while the shimmers are good quality, there isn’t nearly enough of them (out of the 27 shadows above, only 6 are shimmers). Like I said, good for the time, but a ton of room for improvement.
PRECIOUS STONES OBSESSIONS PALETTE COLLECTION
EMERALD OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – Discontinued
I remember, quite vividly, the noise that came out of my mouth when this collection popped up on my Instagram feed. I am a complete tragic for anything Emerald related. It’s my birthstone, its my favourite shade of green. I knew I had to have this palette. Formula wise, this was a step up from the original Obsessions collection. There were a good mix of shimmers and mattes here. And while the matte shades still aren’t great, it’s a definite improvement. My one regret is only getting this palette. As all five palettes in this collection were beautiful. If Huda were to do a rerelease of this collection with updated packaging, it would be a sellout.
NUDE OBSESSIONS PALETTE COLLECTION
MEDIUM NUDE OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – $47.00
Finally, a collection that is still available! The Nude Obsessions collection launched in 2019 with three palettes. And while all of them were utterly gorgeous, the Medium palette was the one I grabbed. Out of my entire collection of Obsessions palettes, this is easily my most used. I mostly love that it’s a no nonsense, neutral brown toned palette that I can use for any occasion.
FIFTH ANNIVERSARY PALETTE COLLECTION
GOLD OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – Discontinued
I mentioned before that the Medium Nude Obsessions was my most used palette. But the Gold Obsessions palette that Huda Beauty released in collaboration with online beauty giant, Cult Beauty back in 2020 is my all time favourite. And it’s a giant missed opportunity that it was never made permanent. I freaking adore this palette. It, by far, has some of my favourite gold shades (the bottom right shade is beautiful). And I especially love that this palette experimented with textures that I hadn’t seen featured before in previous collections. This palette is an all-timer for me.
WILD OBSESSIONS PALETTE COLLECTION
PYTHON OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – $47.00
CHAMELEON OBSESSIONS EYESHADOW PALETTE – $47.00
And finally, the newest members of my Obsessions collection. Full disclosure, these are fairly recent additions of which I have only used them a handful of times. Having said that. I’ve been extremely impressed by them both so far. The Chameleon palette has been a stand out. But the Python palette is fantastic too. The mattes are so velvety and easy to blend. I also love the scale pan pressing in each of these palettes. I think that’s a cute little touch. I do want to pick up the other two in this collection eventually.
And that’s a wrap on my Obsessions palette collection! There are still so many of these palettes out there. So don’t be at all shocked if there winds up being a part two sometime in the future. Do you own any of these palettes? Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.
Cheers and love

They are all so gorgeous! It’s a shame some are discontinued.
