Emmie’s Empties – August 2022

We might be only two days into spring. But I’ve already made a head start on the spring cleaning! That’s right. It’s empties time again. And this month is a doozy! I finished so many amazing products in August and I can’t wait to go through them. Let’s get started!

MINENSSEY NUTRIENT RICH SHEET MASK – $44.00 for pack of 5
I used this up early in the month. So I can’t remember too much about it. It didn’t break me out. So I’m counting that as a win.

MASK SOCIETY ROSE ALL DAY ANTI AGING HYALURONIC ACID SHEET MASK – $5.99*
A good, no nonsense sheet mask that I like having around. Dirt cheap too!

LA ROCHE POSAY CICAPLAST B5 SHEET MASK – $12.95
Still god tier. I bought three more in Townsville!

PATCHOLOGY CHLL MODE SOOTHING EYE MASKS – $23 for a pack of 5
I remember that these had glitter in them. That’s about it.

MECCA COSMETICA HYDROGEL EYE MASK – $8.00
These, however, I quite enjoyed. I popped them in the fridge before I used them. And they were super soothing.

L’OREAL PURE RETINOL NIGHT SERUM – $59.99
If it doesn’t burn my face off, I’m counting that as a win.

BONDI SANDS BONDI BABE PURIFYING CLAY MASK – $19.95
This one actually kinda did burn a little bit. I wasn’t a fan at all. I still want to try more from the Bondi Sands Skincare range. Let me know in the comments what your faves are.

BIODERMA PURIFYING CLEANSING GEL – $24.95
I took this to Townsville with me and I really enjoyed it! I would pick this up in the summer months when my skin is oilier

QV FACE NURTURING NIGHT CREAM – $15.99
I’ve recently had a bad run with night creams not absorbing into my skin. But this soaked in so quickly! I would actually buy this.

QV FACE MOISTURISING DAY CREAM WITH SPF 30 – $16.60
This was also really lovely. I do wish it was SPF 50+ though (TGA – Purchased through Bellabox)

DR DENNIS GROSS STRESS RESCUE SUPER SERUM – $111.00
I think I actually used this up a while ago and just forgot to pop it into my empties. But as far as serums go, this was awesome! It’s a mix of Niacinamides and Adaptogens that help sooth and destress the skin. I would pick this up!

Q+A SKINCARE PEPTIDE FACIAL SERUM – $18.00*
Another serum I really liked! I especially enjoyed this in the morning paired with my HA serums.

HOURGLASS CONFESSION ULTRA SLIM HIGH INTENSITY LIPSTICK in I’LL NEVER STOP – $59.00
I’ve had this lipstick since 2017. And it’s now time to say goodbye. I used up most of it and the formula is absolutely incredible. But it’s beginning to smell a little funky and as you can see from the packaging, she’s been through some shit. I probably wouldn’t repurchase it. But I do recommend the formula.

WISHFUL CLEAN GENIE CLEANSING BUTTER – $53.00
Where the last cleansing balm I used was on the firm side, the Clean Genie is very soft and emolument. It had a fresh scent and it did an amazing job at breaking down my makeup. It’s probably my no. 2 cleansing balm behind Gunk Off. And now that Wishful (and the entirety of Huda’s line) is at Adore Beauty, I’ll definitely pick it up again!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS FOUNDATION – $65.00
Another sad declutter. This was the foundation I wore on my wedding day and it’s still a favourite for when I need perfect, flawless skin. But the pump on this is, for lack of a better term, fucked. And I’ve also had it for a while. I will pick this up again because I do love it.

NIOD LOW VISCOSITY CLEANING ESTER – $70.00*
And now, a not so sad declutter. I was sent this in PR accidentally in place of something else. And from everything that I’ve read about it online, I was supposed to use it as a Micellar Water-esque product. First of all, this stuff is so oily on the skin. I had to wipe it off after every use. This was also the key reason why a lot of my skincare pilled where it usually wouldn’t. I strongly wouldn’t recommend this!

OLAPLEX NO. 4 BOND MAINTENANCE SHAMPOO – $54.00 & NO. 5 BOND MAINTENANCE CONDITIONER – $54.00
Now we are getting into the faves for the month! I am 100% aboard the Olaplex train and I will be buying these again as soon as I’m able to.

GLOW RECIPE STRAWBERRY SMOOTH AHA + BAH SALICYLIC ACID SERUM – $60.00
Phenomenal serum that I went through way too quickly. Glow Recipe needs to sell this in a bigger bottle like they do the Plum Plump serum.

HOLIFROG SHASTA AHA ACID WASH – $58.00*
My current favourite exfoliating cleanser. This was so gentle, but it made all of the difference in the world with my overall complexion and skin texture. I was planning on repurchasing this. But my beautiful friend Hiuy (BeautyByHiuy on Insta) sent me her bottle. She is an angel and you all need to follow her!
