Happy Friday, y’all! And welcome to part 826 of me trying to find a mascara that I like this year. Hyperbolic, I know. But this year’s releases have been so lackluster, it’s almost heartbreaking. So, I dove into my ever increasing review pile and picked out the W7 Cosmetics Flirty Eyes Mascara to give a whirl. This one not only has a ton of positive reviews, but it’s super affordable to boot! But the real question is, has it impressed me? That’s what we are going to be answering today!
W7 FLIRTY EYES FALSE LASH EFFECT MASCARA – $4.99 – chemistwarehouse.com.au
The packaging for the Flirty Eyes mascara is pretty standard for a lot of the drugstore mascaras that I’ve tried. It’s ovular with a flat base. The packaging itself is black, fading into a crimson red and there is white detailing. Overall, pretty standard stuff. W7 is known for being a dupe brand. But this mascara isn’t a dupe for anything I’m aware of (if you know differently, let me know in the comments). The Flirty Eyes Mascara is cruelty free and contains 15ml of product.
The wand for the Flirty Eyes Mascara is rubberised and has an hourglass shape. It’s on the smaller side overall. Which I like because I can reach my inner lashes without bumping the wand into my eye. The bristles are also very close together and even in length. A wand like this is usually good for those who like separation and length.
But now we have to talk about the formula. And this is where the mascara started to lose me early on. This formula is very, very dry. And to me, not very black in colour. Definitely not my favourite kind for formula. And that is reflected in the application and wear test.
The first time I applied the Flirty Eyes Mascara, I literally thought to myself ‘where is it?’ It really didn’t do much for me except some decent separation. It was with a second layer that I saw some improvement to the length of my lashes. But there was no volume. One thing I will note is that I did get some lift in my lashes when I wore this. But it never lasted longer than an hour or two before my lashes drooped again.
But now we get to the wear test. And the reason why this review took so long! You see, there was rarely a time while wearing this mascara where I got a consistent result with it. Some days, it would be ok like this (I say ok, this mascara flakes like nothing else). Other days, I would be in the smudge zone. The smudging was always worse under the circumstances. 1) I was wearing makeup. And 2) I went into applying this mascara with a heavy hand. As I mentioned before, I felt like I had to apply a lot of mascara to get the desired effect on my lashes. And because of that, it lead to more product under my eyes and on my lids.
So, yeah, another one for the no pile this year. I’m not sure if I’m just getting picky in my old age. And I know this mascara is $5. But it was too much work for a piss poor result. And I can’t recommend it. Have you tried the W7 Cosmetics Flirty Eyes Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love

Great review Emmie! It’s a shame this one is in the no pile, I will give it a miss!
