Well, the days are really beginning to warm up. Which means it’s time to do my biannual change up of the skincare! Some of the products that I’ll be talking about are old faves. But I have a few new goodies in the mix as well. Let’s get to it!
STEP 1 – CLEANSE
I always, always, always start my routine by brushing my teeth. And I got asked in my March post why I did this. Basically, it makes sense to brush your teeth before washing your face as to not introduce the bacteria from your toothpaste onto a cleansed surface. In any case, once I’ve done this, I cleanse. At the moment, I’ve actually been juggling between two cleansers. The BIODERMA SENSIBIO MICELLAR WATER – $29.99 will surprise no one. I’ve been using it for years. But for those occasions where my skin needs more, I’ve been quite enjoying the SWISSE BEAUTY MANUKA HONEY DAILY GLOW FOAMING CLEANSER -$12.99*. Super gentle, but leaves my skin feeling cleansed and refreshed.
STEP 2 – TONE
Another returning favourite from last time, I’m still loving the NIOD SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE SACCHARIDE MIST – $75.00*. This might be my favourite face mist, period. Super fine and hydrating. It’s also a good step before I…
STEP 3 – TREAT
Give my skin a little treatment! I was really loving the Rebound serum that I featured last time. And I would happily buy it again. But I still have a cupboard full of other serums to use up first. And these are the two that I have gravitated towards. Firstly, the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE TRIPLE PEPTIDE + CACTUS OASIS SERUM – $88.00*. Is this a good serum for hydration? Yes. But I can say that I’ve tried better for less. What I am loving, however, is THE SKIN SHARK CLEARING SERUM – $45.00*. This has taken the role of quite a few serums in my routine and it’s the product that I’m crediting for keeping my breakouts at bay.
STEP 4 – EYES
I seemed to have ended up with a collective butt-ton of eye serums and creams in my collection. So, I figured I should get around to using them. The DR LEWINN’S INTENSIVE ACTION CAVIAR EYE SERUM – $79.99* is the one that I’ve been using most often. I like a lighter, serumy texture for my eye creams during the day. And this one is lovely and light.
STEP 5 – MOISTURISE
And now, it’s time to moisturise! I have one moisturiser that I’ve almost finished and one that I’m transitioning into my routine to replace. The NATURIUM MULTI-PEPTIDE MOISTURISER – $33.50 is quite possibly my favourite moisturiser of all time. Super hydrating without feeling heavy. This is one that I’ll be repurchasing soon. I’ll be replacing it with the SWISSE BEAUTY MANUKA HONEY GLOW BOOSTING MOISTURISER – $19.99*. This moisturiser, I find, requires a lighter hand. But it is a good one coming into summer.
STEP 6 – SUNSCREEN
And finally, suncreen. These are the three that I’ve been using most often. The GLOW RECIPE WATERMELON GLOW NIACINAMIDE SUNSCREEN – $61.38, the LA ROCHE POSAY ANTHELIOS SPF 50+ INVISIBLE FLUID – $33.99, and the ULTRA VIOLETTE QUEEN SCREEN SKINSCREEN – $47.00. All three provide SPF 50+ and feel lightweight on the skin.
*ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming, towelling and perspiring in accordance with directions.*
And that’s that for my morning skincare. I love a good, simple routine. Especially when I’m in a hurry! What does your morning routine look like? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
