As a beauty lover that does most of her shopping online, I tend to to a ton of research before dropping my hard earned money on anything. But I am only human, and despite my best efforts, sometimes I end up with a product that makes me say ‘what the hell was I thinking?’ That’s what we will be talking about today. First of all, the disclaimer. If these are products that work for you, that’s awesome! I wish they worked for me the same way. Also, to keep things from being too rough, I will also be making recommendations of products that are awesome to me. So, here we go!
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS AURORA GLOW KIT – $75.00
My issue with Aurora is two fold. Firstly, I feel like the formula is way different to the original four pan Glow Kits. It’s stiffer and for me, harder to apply because it doesn’t pick up on a brush that easily. Secondly, and this from a more practical standpoint, the colours, while gorgeous, aren’t really something that I can wear on a day to day basis. If you’re a makeup artist, you would love this. It just isn’t for me
I DO RECOMMEND: The four pan Glow Kits are truly phenomenal. They are all super blingy, glowy and precisely what I love in a good highlighter.
COLOURPOP LIPPIE PENCIL in BFF – $5.00
One of the funniest arguments I saw in the beauty community was the raging debate of Kylie Cosmetics lip pencils being the exact same as The Colourpop ones. Having now used both, I have to say that the Kylie lip pencils beat the Colourpop ones by a mile. The Colourpop ones I found to be super drying on the lips, almost tugging as I applied it. It also caused whatever lipstick I was wearing to look super flaky. I know that these are super cheap, I just know that there are better lip liners out there.
I DO RECOMMEND: The Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks are without a shadow of a doubt my favourites from Colourpop. So insanely comfortable on the lips and they come in a huge range of colours.
FENTY BEAUTY MATTEMOISELLE PLUSH MATTE LIPSTICK in SPANKED – $28.00
I bought this when it launched late last year and I truly haven’t used a lipstick like it. And obviously, I don’t mean that in a good way. It’s a very slippery formula and as a result, it moves around on the lips and smears very easily. I wore it out one day and by the time I made it to the restaurant, my lipstick was pretty much all over my face. It wasn’t a good look. And it’s such a shame, because the colour is gorgeous. I just can’t wear it.
I DO RECOMMEND: The Gloss Bomb Universal Luminizer. I’m not even a lip gloss person and I love this!
KAT VON D EVERLASTING LIQUID LIPSTICK in LOLITA – $30.00
My personal feelings about Kat Von D aside, I for the life of me cannot get this shade to work for me. The formula is fine (thin, but pigmented), but every time I wear it, I look almost sickly and I can’t wear it on it’s own. I also find that if I wear it for any longer than an hour, it starts to break down super patchy and despite it’s thin formula, it doesn’t layer well. So I usually end up taking it off completely.
I DO RECOMMEND: Vaccinating your kids, but that’s just me.
L’OREAL SUGAR SCRUB NOURISHING SCRUB – $19.99
OK, I’ll chalk this one up to me buying something that was never going to work for me. If you have dry skin, I can see this being brilliant for you. But it wasn’t gritty enough for me and it made my skin too oily after using it.
I DO RECOMMEND: The Purifying Scrub from this range is probably one of my favourite skincare discoveries this year. It has the right amount of grit and it makes my face feel smooth and refined.
NEUTROGENA RAPID WRINKLE REPAIR ANTI-AGING EYE CREAM – $34.00
This was an eye cream that came very highly recommended by a lot of people due to it being a drugstore eye cream with added retinol. But I really don’t like it. I haven’t noticed any change in my under eye area in the six months that I’ve been using it and I truly feel like I have wasted my money on this.
I DO RECOMMEND: The Hydro Boost Night Concentrate is a pretty great nighttime moisturiser that I have used quite often. I like it especially for winter when my skin needs a bit more hydration.
And that’s my product regrets. I’ll try and do these on a regular basis. But hopefully not too often.
Cheer and love

Great post! I was actually looking at the neutrogena eye cream today. Thanks for the review!
Sorry about the late reply! I’ve since read that a lot of people didn’t like that eye cream. I’m actually loving one from Ole Henriksen!
I DO RECOMMEND: Vaccinating your kids, but that’s just me.
I AM DEAD omg
