It’s finally February. Which means it’s time to switch things up in my makeup drawer and focus my attention on some new goodies to test out. When I was deciding what products to pick for this edit, I leaned towards products that either a) I’ve had for a while and wanted to revisit, b) products I purchased a while ago and just never got around to trying, and c) one or two new hotness products. Let’s get into my picks!
*Em’s Note* Some of the products featured were sent in PR. Said products are marked with an asterisk (*).
Ok, everyone be proud of me. I finally swapped out my primer! March is when the temperature in Mount Isa does begin to change. So, moisture is the name of the game. I picked the DESIGNER BRANDS SKIN QUENCHER PRIMER + MOISTURISER – $19.99. I haven’t used it in a while. But I remember liking it. It’s basically a dupe for the Smashbox Primerizer.
I’m still testing out the Ultra Violette Skin Tint (review coming next week). But I still wanted to go with two coverage products. Firstly, the NARS NATURAL RADIANT LONGWEAR FOUNDATION – $73.00. I’ve had this one for an embarrassingly long time. I really should get around to reviewing it. The other one I picked was the MAKEUP BY MARIO SURREALSKIN FOUNDATION – $75.00. I know, it’s the new hotness. But when I mentioned that I had it, my DM’s were blown up with people wanting a review. And I always aim to please.
I kept the KVD Good Apple Concealer out as I want to test it a little more (it’s doing some weird shit). But I wanted a second concealer for highlighting. Which means it’s time to break out the HUDA BEAUTY FAUXFILTER LUMINOUS MATTE LIQUID CONCEALER – $44.00. It’s maybe a shade too light for on the face. But it’ll be perfect for under the eyes.
Staying with my lord and saviour, Huda Beauty, the HUDA BEAUTY EASY BAKE LOOSE POWDER – $52.00 was my choice for powder. So many people love this one and I want to see if it’s worth the hype. For my setting spray, I’m revisiting another old favourite. The HOURGLASS VEIL SOFT FOCUS SETTING SPRAY – $72.00. I’m pretty sure that this is on it’s last leg so I would love to use it up.
I also swapped out my brow products! Aren’t I so brave? I got a few new brow products in the mail and I wanted to give them some attention. Namely, the ESSENCE FIX IT LIKE A BOSS TRANSPARENT BROW FIXING GEL – $6.49* and the MAYBELLINE BROW ULTRA SLIM PENCIL – $16.99. I’ve been using the brow gel for a few weeks now and I really like it! It has a good hold. The Maybelline is actually an old fave that I haven’t used in a while.
My Essence mascara review should be live on Friday. Which means new mascara’s! And the two I went with were the PIXI LARGE LASH MASCARA – $25.00* and the viral favourite TOWER 28 MAKE WAVES MASCARA – $32.26. I won’t lie, I often forget that Pixi does makeup. So I’m intrigued to play with that mascara. The Tower 28, however, will probably get the review treatment first. This was one of the most beloved mascara’s of 2022. So I have to know if it’s worth the hype.
Finally, we have the cheek products. And I went with both cream and powder choices. For the creams, I went with the KVD VEGAN BEAUTY MODCON LONG WEAR LIQUID CONTOUR in LIGHT/MEDIUM – $36.00, the LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURISER BLUSH in MEDITERRANEE – $42.00, and the FLOWER BEAUTY SPOTLIGHT LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER in GLEAM – $15.99. Now, I picked these three because online, all three have mixed to negative reviews (that Flower Beauty in particular). So, this is for science!
For the powders, I went with some safer choices. The HAUS LABS POWER SCULPT VELVET BRONZER in SHADE 4 LIGHT – $66.00, the HUDA BEAUTY GLOWISH CHEEKY VEGAN BLUSH POWDER in CARING CORAL – $32.00, and the CHARLOTTE TILBURY GLOW GLIDE FACE ARCHITECT HIGHLIGHTER in PILLOW TALK – $70.00. All three of these I know I like. So if the creams do bomb, I have something to fall back on.
And those are my picks for February/March. Also, just wanted to let y’all know, if you want to hear my thought on the products from my previous monthly edits, that’s something I’ll be doing on TikTok. You can find me here to follow along. I hope the next few months are as fabulous as you all are!
Cheers and love
