Well folks, it’s finally March! Which means it’s time for me to do my biannual morning skincare post. And this might be the least complex routine that I’ve ever talked about. You see, at the start of the year, I made a major change to when I do my routine. Instead of doing it right before I go to work, I now do it first thing after waking up. This has been great for me as far as time saving goes. But it does also mean that I’m doing my skincare while I’m still half asleep. So yeah, simple is good. Let’s get into what my routine is looking like these days.
*Em’s Note* Some of the products featured were sent in PR. Those products are marked with an asterisk.
STEP 1 – CLEANSE
You will all be so proud of me! For a little while there, I was using a micellar water that wasn’t Bioderma! I was using one that I was sent by the luxury French skincare brand, Guinot. I did enjoy that one as it was very light and had a pleasant scent. However, when I looked up the price of the travel size that I was sent, I knew that I would be sticking to what I knew. So, yeah, I’m back to using the BIODERMA SENSIBIO MICELLAR WATER – $29.99. And I will be probably until I die.
STEP 2 – TONE
I somehow ended up with a massive amount of toners and mists over the last few months. And I’ve been slowly getting through them all. At the moment, I’m using the GUINOT LOTION HYDRA BEAUTE – $35.20*. It’s actually a lovely toner. Very light and soothing. Why am I using it in my SDSM bottle? Convenience.
STEP 3 – SERUMS
You know me, I love my serums! And I’m currently juggling a few. My non negotiables are the TBH SKINCARE REBOUND SERUM – $59.95 and the THE INKEY HYALURONIC ACID – $14.00*. I use them every morning for hydration and barrier repair. The PIXI VITAMIN C SERUM – $44.00* and the THE ORDINARY SALICYLIC ACID 2% SOLUTION – $10.20* I generally alternate depending on my skin’s needs. The Vitamin C and the Hyaluronic Acid serum’s are both on their last legs and will be replaced soon.
STEP 4 – EYES
Another product that has seemingly crept into my collection is eye creams. I have more than I know what to do with! The one that I’ve been focusing on at the moment is the THE INKEY LIST CAFFEINE EYE CREAM – $18.00*. And honestly? Out of all of the ones that I’ve tried recently, this has been my favourite. It’s a very light formula that soaks in quickly. And I have really begun to notice a difference in my under eyes. Especially when I wear concealer.
STEP 5 – MOISTURISE
Y’all, I’ve been having a bad run with face creams as of late. I’m trying to get through the ones that I’ve been sent (yes, I know this is a first world problem). And I haven’t really liked any of them. At the moment, I’m getting through the PIXI VITAMIN C LOTION – $42.00*. It’s one of the better face creams that I’ve come across. But it just feels a little heavy on my face. This might be one that I’ll like more as it gets colder.
STEP 6 – SUNCARE
So, this is how I do my routine of a morning just so you get a better idea. Steps 1-5 I do immediately after waking up. Step 6 I do 20-30 minutes before I leave the house. Enough time for everything to soak in before I go to work. I’ve almost finished the ULTRA VIOLETTE CLEAN SCREEN SPF30 WEIGHTLESS SENSITIVE SKINSCREEN – $47.00 (TGA Declaration – purchased myself). Which I have really enjoyed. And I’m beginning to transition over to the BONDI SANDS SUNNY DAYS HYDRATING SPF 50 MOISTURISER – $22.99 (TGA Declaration – purchased myself). I’ve found that I tend to prefer zinc oxide based sunscreens in the cooler months because in the heat of the summer, I feel like I sweat them off and it’s an unpleasant feeling. I also find that applying this in layers makes it sit on the skin better.
And that is a wrap on my current routine. I have to say, I think I’m doing something right because my skin has never looked better. What does your morning skincare routine look like? Let me know in the comments!
Cheers and love

Such a great routine! It is hard to get a good moisturiser that ticks all the boxes. I am intrigued by the Pixi products.
