I’ve been a ride or die stan of Lady GaGa ever since she burst onto the scene back in 2008. I’ve owned every album, I’ve seen every movie, I’ve been to her concerts. You cut me, I bleed Bad Romance. So, it might surprise you to learn that I was initially apprehensive to try her makeup line, Haus Laboratories when it launched in 2020. Remember, this was peak ‘every celebrity was bringing out a makeup line’. And I’ll admit to being a little burned out by it. The Amazon exclusivity didn’t help either. Neither did the mid/bad reviews that I was hearing at the time.
And then, in 2022, she did something totally unexpected. The name got changed to Haus Labs and there was a hard rebrand to go along with it. And these products got way more positive buzz. None more so than the TriClone Skin Tech Foundation. I saw this pop up on a ton of Best Of 2022 lists. And I knew that I had to give it a go for myself. I’ve been testing it out for the last few weeks and I have so many thoughts. Let’s get into this!
HAUS LABS TRICLONE SKIN TECH FOUNDATION – $83.00 – hauslabs.com (51 shades available)
The packaging of the TriClone Foundation is definitely one of the more unique bottles that I’ve seen. It’s a flask shaped bottle that starts off even and then tapers towards the top. The glass is frosted and there is silver detail on the bottle. The bottle is extremely weighty and well constructed. The TriClone Foundation is cruelty free, vegan, and contains 30ml of product.
The foundation is dispensed via a pump that is made of recycled plastic. It’s a surprisingly stiff pump that is easy to control. And I find that it dispenses a good amount of product.
The TriClone Foundation launched with 51 shades. The way they describe it is that the shade range is numbered by the pigment load in each shade. The higher the number, the deeper the shade. The shades are split into six shade families (fair, light, light medium, medium, medium deep, deep). And there is a wide array of undertones available. I was so impressed to see their line up. They go from a literally white shade (shade no. 000) to one of the deepest shades that I’ve ever seen! We love to see it.
The irony being that I’m not 100% sure that I got my exact shade. I actually used the shade finder that they have available on their website. And the shade it chose out for me was 175. Described as being Light Neutral with Peach Undertones. You’ll see in the below picture that it’s actually a good match. But it is a shade that I have to take down the neck. I consider this my summer shade. But I think I would want a shade that is maybe a step down. If you can test in store, I definitely recommend it (having said that, at the time of writing, Haus Labs is still not available in store in Australia).
Applying the TriClone Foundation was an absolute breeze. While it worked with with my fingers or a flat top brush, I had the easiest time blending it out with a sponge. The formula is on the liquidy side, but it still blended out without being absorbed too much. I used one pump all over the face and neck. And then went in with a half pump to boost the coverage. It also layers really easily.
The TriClone Foundation is described as being a medium coverage foundation with a lightweight, natural luminous finish. And I agree on all counts. The finish is utterly gorgeous! It looks and feels genuinely skin like. The rest of my makeup layered on to of the foundation without lifting. First impressions, I was truly impressed.
And those good vibes continue on with the wear test. I’ve worn this foundation in a wide array of temperatures (Mount Isa’s weather has been erratic, y’all!). And it looked as flawless at 5pm as it did when I applied it at 7:30am. You know, besides the hat rub off. But what else is new. I had no sinking, no cracking, no slipping. It always felt comfortable. I actually got a lot of compliments and inquiries on what foundation I was wearing while I was wearing this. Which rarely happens.
Y’all, I am over the moon with the Haus Labs TriClone Skin Tech Foundation. And I truly cannot recommend it enough. This is officially a front runner for my foundation of the year. And it may have overtaken the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation as my number one favourite. I’m that serious about this! Please try this foundation. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Cheers and love
