And I’m back with my second mascara roundup. I’ve somehow ended up with more mascara than I know what to do with! So I have been putting them all to the test over the last few months and I may have discovered some new hidden gems here. Well, new to me anyway. So let’s dive on in!
MAYBELLINE COLOSSAL BIG SHOT MASCARA – $19.95
Ok, this one isn’t that new to me, but I will always take an opportunity to talk about my beloved Big Shot Mascara! If you’re in the market for a great volumising mascara that adds length and curl to your lashes, this is definitely the one to go for. The formula is pitch black and creamy, without transferring or smudging and it lasts ages on the lashes. Definitely a fave of mine!
MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL LUSCIOUS MASCARA – $21.95
The Original Lash Sensational is an old favourite of mine. But I had never tried any of the spinoffs. I grabbed this one when it came with a magazine and having now used it, I think I like this one better! The wand is more of a cone shape, as opposed to the curve shape of the original, and I find it much easier to use. Mostly because the pointed tip allows me to reach my inner lashes far more easily. But I also found that the wand doesn’t get as gunky with product as the original. It doesn’t add as much drama to the lashes as the original or even the Big Shot mascara, but it holds a curl and it separates the lashes nicely. I would pick this up again.
THE BALM MAD LASH MASCARA – $24.95
Full disclosure, if you’re someone who likes a lot of drama with their mascara. you will probably hate this one. It does lengthen somewhat and it does a fine job of separating, but that’s about it. So why do I love this mascara so much? Because it’s my perfect workday mascara. It’s super easy to apply, it doesn’t smudge or flake (even after an eight hour shift) and it is easy to remove! If you’re someone who already has pretty good lashes, or doesn’t like a lot of drama, I would recommend picking this up! Especially if you can get it on sale.
CLINIQUE LASH POWER MASCARA – $39.95
This is a mascara that even after wearing it for a couple of weeks, I’m still not 100% decided on how I feel. On the positives, it’s such a great mascara for lengthening and adding volume. It also has a nice, petite wand that separates the lashes. The problem is that it’s a pain in the butt to remove. I have tried a couple of different ways to remove this mascara at night time, and the most effective ways is to use an oil based remover. And even then, I’m still finding clumps of it on my face. I love a budge proof mascara, but I still need to be able to remove it at the end of the day.
TARTE LIGHTS, CAMERA, LASHES 4 in 1 MASCARA – $29.00
Yet another mascara where I’m not sure how I feel. I can’t fault how it looks on the lashes, but it isn’t anything truly exceptional and I have other mascaras that I love even more that cost way less than than the full size of this mascara. If you really want to try this mascara, it’s more often than not included in Tarte holiday kits. I couldn’t justify paying money for just the full size.
And that’s my latest mascara round up! Let me know what mascaras I should try out next!
Cheers and love
