Happy Tuesday, y’all! We are heading back to the drugstore for today’s mascara review. That’s right, we are getting to my long awaited review of the Lash ‘N Roll Mascara from ELF Cosmetics. This is supposedly a dupe for the Benefit Roller Lash (which I famously don’t like). So, let’s not waste any time and get into my thoughts on this one!
ELF COSMETICS LASH ‘N ROLL MASCARA – $18.00 – elfcosmetics.com.au
Starting with the packaging, the Lash ‘N Roll Mascara is housed in a slender black tube with a baby pink handle and baby pink detailing. It has similarities to the Roller Lash packaging. But it’s a more simplified version of it. The tube is very lightweight. But not in cheap feeling way. The Lash ‘N Roll Mascara is cruelty free, vegan, and contains 9g of product.
The wand of the Lash ‘N Roll Mascara is one that I’ve enjoyed immensely in the past. It’s a rubberised curved brush. The inner side has short bristles to help with building product onto the lashes and the outer side has longer bristles to help with separation and lift. A fun little bonus is that the brush is actually the same shade of pink as the handle and the detailing. I just think that’s cute. But yes, I have mentioned in the past that I like wands like these and this is no different.
It’s the formula, however, that makes all the difference for me. I’ll get into the reasons why when I get to the wear test. Texture wise, it’s on the thinner side and quite dry. It’s a predominately wax based formula. But there is also castor oil which is good for nourishing lashes. The colour is rich in black pigment. And it was very easy to remove.
And this is where we must say a goodbye, once again, to my volume loving readers. Because the Lash ‘N Roll Mascara is not going to be for you. From my experience, curved brushes plus drier formulas equals a lot of length and lift. But not a lot of volume. And that’s the general gist that I got when I first applied it. What I will say though is that this mascara layers really well without getting clumpy or weighty on the lashes. It’s actually super lightweight feeling. The thing that impressed me the most was the curl that this mascara gave me. My lashes aren’t dead straight, but they don’t curl easily. And this mascara helped immensely with that.
And those good vibes continued on with the wear test. Y’all? I am blown away by how good this mascara is. It didn’t flake, smudge, or transfer anywhere. Which considering the last ELF mascara I reviewed, that is huge for me. The biggest thing for me, and the thing that separates this from the Benefit Roller Lash, is that this formula doesn’t irritate the hell out of my eyes. So, if you have sensitive eyes, this is the mascara to go for.
So, all in all, I give the Lash ‘N Roll Mascara a rousing thumbs up. And my wholehearted recommendation. This is easily the best drugstore mascara that I’ve tried this year. And I wouldn’t be at all shocked if we’re talking about it again come next January. Have you tried the ELF Cosmetics Lash ‘N Roll Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
