Emmie’s Empties – August 2023

It’s empties time, once again y’all! I made my way through quite a few things in August. Including a few that I am super excited to share my thoughts about. Let’s dive on in.

PIXI HYDRATING MILKY LOTION – $46.00*
Starting off with a declutter. I made it a good ways through this lotion. But I cannot stand the smell. It’s also a very gloopy texture that can take a second to absorb into the skin. I wouldn’t pick this up again. I have so many more body creams that I like more.

OUAI FINE HAIR CONDITIONER – $54.00
Future note to self. The next time Dennis asks to borrow your very expensive conditioner. Say no.

GUINOT EAU DERMAQUILLANTE MICELLAIRE CLEANSING WATER – $67.00*
I don’t care that I got this in PR. There is no way on Beyonce’s internet that I’m going to recommend a near $70 micellar water. Bioderma is half the price, double the size, and just generally better. Buy that.

GLOW RECIPE AVOCADO CERAMIDE MOISTURE BARRIER CLEANSER – $45.00
This, on the other hand, I will not shut up about. My cleanser of the year. It’s that good.

ELIZABETH ARDEN RETINOL CERAMIDE CAPSULES – $85.00
Like the concept. Maybe not the execution. I will be sticking to my regular retinols.

FRANK BODY GLYCOLIC BODY SCRUB – $25.00

SHMOIST DAILY RIND HAND SANITISER – $19.95*
This was my bag sanitiser for a while there. I liked the spritz function. Made me feel like I wasn’t using too much..

SHMOIST SAW BAE HAND SANITISER – $19.95*
This one, however, leaked all over my desk. Maybe only used it twice. I’m also not 100% sure that this brand exists anymore.

GLOW RECIPE WATERMELON GLOW NIACINAMIDE SUNSCREEN – $62.65
I have such a love hate relationship with this sunscreen. Some days it would wear beautifully, others it would pill up almost immediately. And there is also the eye stinging. I wouldn’t repurchase.

PAULA’S CHOICE MOISTURE RENEWAL OIL BOOSTER – $59.00*
I drowned my skin in this during the winter months. So luscious and hydrating. I would definitely pick up again.

TOWER 28 MAKE WAVES MASCARA – $34.30
My mascara of the year and only one other has come close. I know that there is still a few months left in the year, But I strongly believe that I will be talking about this one again come next January.

KAYALI EDEN JUICY APPLE 01 – $38.00 for 10ml
I still plan on doing that Kayali rankings post one day. But for now, Eden sits in the top 3 for sure. I already have the 100ml of this.

THE INKEY LIST OMEGA WATER CREAM – $18.00*
I remember being pretty meh on this the first time that I used it up last year. But after a string of disappointing moisturisers, I am looking at this one a lot more kindly. It’s actually very good. And for less than $20? Trust me when I say you can do a lot worse.
