I’m going to give y’all a peek behind the curtain. I did, in fact, have a totally different blog post lined up for today. But the other night, I found out that one of my absolute favourite lipstick formulas had been discontinued. So, to heal my pain, we are doing this again. Chatting about amazing makeup products that have been snatched away from me. Let’s get into it!
MAC LOVE ME LIPSTICK
This was the product that inspired this whole post. Allow me to set the scene. It was Wednesday night. I was scrolling through Instagram when I saw a post from Claire Bridgett talking about wedding lipsticks. Now, long time readers will know that I wore the MAC Love Me Lipstick in Laissez-Faire on my wedding day. But I wanted to double check the spelling before I posted. And that’s when I saw the sentence ‘MAC Love Me Lipstick Discontinued’ in my Google search. Sure enough, according to Reddit, they were discontinued back in May of this year. They are also no longer on the MAC Australia website. And I am nothing short of devastated. This was one of my favourite formulas. It was smooth, creamy, nourishing, and very pigmented. Perfect for daily wear. And it had a great range of shades in the line. I’m sure that I could dupe these once I run out. But it won’t be the same.
ULTA3 EYE-LUMINATE CREAM SHADOW STYLO
Ulta3 has a mean habit of bringing out amazing products that wind up being limited edition. Case in point, the Eye-Luminate Cream Shadows. So, so good! The formula is comparable to some of my high end faves. And I can’t ever talk about them on here because they were discontinued forever ago. I know that they have since released liquid shadows. But seeing as shadow sticks like these are extremely popular, I would love to see these make a comeback.
DIOR BACKSTAGE FACE & BODY FOUNDATION
I really should have known better. I finally got around to reviewing this foundation back in May after having it float around in my collection for an embarrassingly long time. Only to see on TikTok like 2 weeks later that this version is going away and it’s coming back with a reformulation. Now, on the one hand, they did shake up the shade range with the new version (43 as opposed to 40). On the other hand, I have seen more than a few people mention that they don’t like the new formulation. I do intend on picking up the new version in November so I can get properly shade matched.
MODELS PREFER MINERAL FINISHING VEIL
I remember hearing that Models Prefer had a sizable rebrand a little while ago. I guess I didn’t realise how much they cleaned house when they did. A ton of their iconic products aren’t available anymore (remember those Hourglass dupe powders that they had? They were awesome). The Mineral Finishing Veil was one of the products that went to the great makeup graveyard. And I’m gutted because it’s a lovely powder. Especially for adding a little something something under the eyes.
NATASHA DENONA GOLD PALETTE
I saved my biggest heartbreak for last. Every day, I log into Instagram and I pray that the Gold palette gets the midi rebrand that it sorely deserves. This is easily Natasha Denona’s best colour story and I will hear no argument. I love all of the different golds and mustard yellows in this palette. Also, my palette has seen some shit. So, I need to replace it for that reason alone!
Well, I needed to get that out. Here’s hoping I don’t have to do this again anytime soon *glares at makeup brands*. What product being discontinued broke your heart? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
