Ahh, makeup brushes. They are both the bane of a makeup lover’s existence and the most essential part of our makeup routines. We couldn’t do much without them. And over the last decade or so, I’ve tried so many that I genuinely love. But the five that I’ll be shouting out today are the top shelf faves. These are the ones that I have bought multiples of and if I were to lose them, I would tear my flat apart to find. Let’s get into it!
RARE BEAUTY LIQUID TOUCH FOUNDATION BRUSH – $51.00
I’ve already give this brush it’s flowers recently. But I just want to say again just how absolutely amazing the Rare Beauty foundation brush is! The bristles are densely packed, but still have enough flexibility to buff effectively. The brush head itself is angular and on the small side Which I love because it’s able to really reach into the contours of my face (around the nose, behind ears, etc.). It’s certainly one of the more expensive brushes that I own. But it’s so worth it.
MECCA MAX COMPLEXION BUFFING BRUSH – $20.00
Many of my brush purchases over the years have come from recommendations. And this little wonder ended up with me because of Elizabeth Cee over of TikTok (if you aren’t following her, change that immediately). She raved about this one for cream bronzer. And she was 100% correct. Again, this one is very densely packed. But still able to buff and blend easily. The domed part is able to fit comfortably in the contours of my face. Meaning that my blend is very precise. And this brush works amazingly with both cream and liquid bronzers.
REAL TECHNIQUES SETTING BRUSH – $18.99
This one gets a very special shout out for being one of the oldest brushes in my collection. I bought this at a Maryborough Priceline back in 2015 when this was the top choice for a highlighter brush. And as you can clearly see, she is very well loved. Though I rarely if ever use this for highlighter anymore. I actually use it pretty much for the purpose it was intended for. Setting the under eye area of the face. I love that the tip can easily reach the inner corner of my eye so I can set that area. Real Techniques makes some amazing brushes .And if you’re a beginner, I still highly recommend them.
TRIXIE COSMETICS P12 ANGLED CHEEK BRUSH – $23.00
Out of all of the brushes that I’m talking about today, this is the one that I wanted to gatekeep the most. Let’s get this out of the way right now. Trixie Cosmetics makes some of the best brushes that I’ve ever tried. They are so well crafted and they can take a beating. Lord knows I’ve used this brush to death and it’s still in amazing condition. It picks up any powder blush with ease. And again, because it’s slightly domed, it sits on the apples of my cheeks beautifully.
MORPHE M152 MEDIUM CHISEL FLUFF BRUSH – discontinued
You know, I was going to be nice and say that even though Morphe gets an occasionally well deserved side eye from the beauty community, they still have some amazing eyeshadow brushes in their line. Then I found out during the writing of this that they discontinued this brush. So now, they can eat a bag of dicks. I’m kidding. But this was the perfect eyeshadow packing brush for me. I don’t have a lot of available lid space. So I prefer my packing brushes to be on the smaller side. And this fit perfectly for me. I also loved it for under the lower lash line because it was a little fluffy at the tip. I know that they still have the M124, which is a similar shape. But I’ll have to hold onto these for sure.
And that is a wrap on my favourite, must have brushes! Let me know in the comments what your brush must haves are.
Cheers and love

The only brush I have here is the RT brush, which is so good. I will need to check the rest out.
