Happy Friday, y’all! We are back today to talk about makeup. You’re shocked, I know. But it is a new month. Which means it’s time to swap out the makeup stash drawer and add in some new goodies for me to test out. And this month’s edit is a bumper edit. We have some newbies, some old faves, and even a few cameo appearances from products that were featured in previous edits. Let’s get into it!
We’ll kickstart this with the base products. And I picked out two primers to use this time around. Firstly, the SUMMER FRIDAYS SHADE DROPS MINERAL MILK – $58.00. Not only is this super hydrating and nourishing on the skin, but it also has an SPF 30 for a touch of sun protection (I’ll still be wearing my regular sunscreen in conjunction with this). I also bought back the MILK MAKEUP HYDRO GRIP PRIMER – $62.00 to use. This is a summer staple for me. For my coverage picks, I chose the GLOSSIER STRETCH FLUID FOUNDATION – $64.00 and the HOURGLASS VEIL HYDRATING SKIN TINT – $79.00. Now, full disclosure, I actually pulled in the Glossier a little early. As I was having difficulty with one of my foundation choices for my last edit. So, I’ve actually being using it for a little while and you’ll see that review sooner than you’d think. As for the Hourglass, I picked this up in Sydney and I’m bursting at the seams to try it!
Concealer and powder time now. And this is the time of year where sleep betrays me. So I pulled in a colour corrector to test out. Namely, the HUDA BEAUTY #FAUXFILTER COLOUR CORRECTOR – $46.00. I went with a few old faves for my concealer picks. The MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND CONCEALER – $22.99 and the KOSAS REVEALER CONCEALER – $48.00. And for my powders, I chose the HUDA BEAUTY EASY BAKE LOOSE POWER – $59.00 and the KOSAS CLOUD SET SETTING POWDER – $56.00. Both of these are repeats that I want to test out again before the end of the year.
Because it’s now summertime, I was deliberate with my setting spray choices. I kept in the RARE BEAUTY ALWAYS AN OPTIMIST 4 in 1 SETTING SPRAY – $27.00 as I’m super close to using it up. And when that’s empty, we’ll have our first proper appearance of the CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS SETTING SPRAY – $54.00. This is still my number one favourite setting spray. I’m yet to try anything that comes close.
I kept in the RARE BEAUTY BROW HARMONY PRECISION PENCIL – $36.00 from my last edit. I think I want to play with it a bit more before I make up my mind on it. However, I did add in one newbie. The GLOSSIER BOY BROW – $34.00. Again, I’ve been using this behind the scenes for a minute. I’ll let you know my thoughts in a future review.
Mascara time now. This is the bit that y’all really care about. I have the FENTY BEAUTY HELLA THICC VOLUMIZING MASCARA – $34.00 and the REVLON XTENSIONNAIRE MASCARA – $24.95 as my picks for this edit. Both of these are newer releases with a ton of buzz around them. Stay tuned for those reviews in the coming weeks.
Time to get cheeky with some bronzers. I actually had some restraint and picked two. For my cream bronzer, I chose the SAIE SUN MELT NATURAL CREAM BRONZER – $51.48. Which I could have sworn I’ve featured in an edit before. But apparently not. This is a newbie for me! Also a newbie to the edit is the CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRISH BRONZER – $84.00. And much like the Trixie bronzer from the last edit, this pan is huge!
We can’t celebrate the holidays without a little shimmer and glow. Which is why I picked two highlighters. Firstly, the RARE BEAUTY POSITIVE LIGHT LIQUID LUMINIZER – $44.00. I love the powder version of the Rare Beauty highlighters, so I hope I love this just as much. On the more affordable end, I chose the OXX COSMETICS HIGHLIGHTER BALM – $6.00. I really enjoyed the bronzer balm from my last edit. So I hope this is more of the same.
Finally, we have to talk about my blush picks. Because I think this is where I went the most ham. I picked a whopping six blushes to test out. My first pick was the MAC GLOW PLAY BLUSH in BLUSH, PLEASE – $55.00. This is an old favourite of mine that I wanted to revisit. Next, the CHANEL NO 1. DE CHANEL LIP & CHEEK BALM in VITAL BEIGE – $75.00. I wanted to see how well this pairs with the Glow Play blush. NARS BLUSH on BEHAVE – $51.00. I’ve owned this for a while and have never gotten around to using it. It’s such a gorgeous, neutral pink. And staying with pink, my final choice was the ONE/SIZE CHEEK CLAPPER 3D BLUSH TRIO in ATTENTION SEEKER – $62.00. Which is three gorgeous textures of blush in one compact.
And that is everything that I’ll be testing out! As always, if something has piqued your interest, let me know. And I might feature it in a future bite size reviews!
Cheers and love
Emily xo
