Back in October, cult favourite brand Glossier announced that after 10 long years, they would be finally shipping worldwide. This was a massive win for the beauty world. Glossier is widely beloved. But they were notoriously difficult to buy outside of the US/Canada. So, you bet your arse I placed an order immediately. I picked a ton of their classic faves to try out like the Boy Brow and the You fragrance. But one of the products I grabbed was actually a newer launch from them. The Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation. This has been on my to try list since it launched back in August. And I was ecstatic to finally get my hands on it. So, was it worth the wait? Let’s find out!
GLOSSIER STRETCH FLUID FOUNDATION – $63.00 – glossier.com
*32 shades available*
Starting with the packaging, the Stretch Fluid Foundation is housed in a clear, stout glass bottle. It has a mirrored cap and white detail on the cap and bottle. The glass of the bottle feels thick and the bottle itself is quite weighty. Like a lot of Glossier products, the aesthetic is very clean and modern. Though when I showed my husband the bottle, he did describe it as a chode. I can’t say that it’s a lie. The Stretch Fluid Foundation is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 30ml of product.
The Stretch Fluid Foundation is dispensed via a plastic pump on the top of the bottle. My feelings about plastic pumps are well documented on here. But so far, I haven’t had issues with jamming and it does dispense a good amount of product. More on that later.
The Stretch Fluid Foundation has 32 shades in their line. Which on the surface sounds small. But they are divided up well. There are seven different shade categories (Very Light, Light, Medium, Medium Tan, Medium Deep, Deep, Very Deep) with around 4-5 shades per category. There is also a good mix of undertones available. They have the standard warm, neutral, and cool. But there are also peach, olive, and red undertones included in the deeper shade ranges. For myself, I wear shade Light 2, which is Light with Neutral undertones. From the above picture, you’d swear it was on the yellow side. But, if you ask me, it’s actually one of the better matches I’ve had recently (shout out to Glossier’s foundation matcher).
One of the Stretch Fluid Foundation’s big selling points is that it’s 89% skincare. And when you take a closer look at the ingredients, there is a lot here. Close to the top of the list, we have our hydration friends Glycerin, Propanediol, and Squalane. These are great at soothing the skin barrier and keeping moisture where it belongs. There is also something called Wild Rose Berry and Plankton Extract. Both of these help with controlling shine and will aid with hydration. There is also no fragrance in this formula. Making it a safer option for those with sensitive skin.
The formula of the Stretch Fluid Foundation is pretty forgiving as far as application goes. Because it has a bit of body to it, I found that I liked the results I got with a sponge the best. Though using my hand or a brush works just as well (there is a corresponding brush that is sold alongside the foundation). The foundation pumps out around a pea sized amount and I found that two pumps covered my face and neck. If I wanted a little extra coverage, I would go in with half a pump extra.
The Stretch Fluid Foundation is described as being a lightweight, buildable, light to medium coverage foundation with a natural, skin like finish. And I have to say, I totally agree. I was actually surprised by the amount of coverage I got. Glossier is best known for being the no makeup makeup brand and all. But I was able to get it up to a medium coverage. My freckles were still visible, but my dark spots and discolouration got covered up very easily. As you can see, I did have two blemishes that didn’t get covered all the way. But otherwise, I was seriously impressed by how good my skin looked upon initial application.
But we have to talk about wear test. Now, the Stretch Fluid Foundation’s other big selling point is that it’s crease resistant, sweat resistant, and it has a 12 hour wear. And I’ll be buggered that it held up for those 12 hours. I’m so serious right now. We have had 40 degree days pretty constantly over the last 3-4 weeks that I’ve been testing this foundation. And the humidity has been brutal too. And somehow, this foundation has stood up to that challenge. This hasn’t cracked, this hasn’t moved, it hasn’t sweated off. My jaw was on the floor when I first wore it, I couldn’t believe it had worn as well as it did.
Well folks, we have a very last minute addition to my end of year favourites. The Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation gets my absolute approval and I cannot recommend it enough. Glossier did something truly magical with this foundation and you all need to try it immediately! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried the Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation.
Cheers and love
