Happy Friday, y’all! I have an all new mascara review for you. Today, we will be chatting about LYS Beauty and their best selling Lash Confidence Mascara. This one caught my attention because it’s rare that I see a mascara with this split of a reception online. Some say that it’s their holy grail, and others say that it’s the worst mascara that they’ve ever tried. So, which side do I fall on? Let’s find out.
LYS BEAUTY LASH CONFIDENCE MASCARA – $26.00 – sephora.com.au
I have to start with the packaging. The Lash Confidence Mascara is housed in a mirrorised rose gold, triangular shaped tube. There is soft pink detailing on the tube itself. Despite the metal look of the packaging, it’s actually quite lightweight and comfortable to hold. The Lash Confidence Mascara is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 7.5ml of product.
The wand for the Lash Confidence Mascara uses synthetic hair bristles and is curved and quite broad in shape. While I famously like a curved wand like this, I found this one in particular quite difficult to use as I would constantly get product on my eyelid/under eye area. And the tip was too big for me to reach my inner lashes easily. If it were a little slimmer or if it tapered towards the tip, I would probably have an easier time with it.
Then again, with a formula like this, maybe I was screwed either way. The Lash Confidence Mascara has the honour of being one of the thickest mascara formula’s that I’ve come across in a long time. The above picture was one unwiped swatch off of the brush. And you get a lot of product on the brush. Consistency wise, it’s creamy in a whipped way. Surprisingly lightweight, but walks right up to the line of being gunky on the lashes. The one good thing I will say is that it’s super rich in pigment. Very, very black.
The Lash Confidence Mascara is noted for being a ‘clean’ formulation. And there are some interesting ingredients in the mix. Date Fruit Extract to help soften and moisturise the lashes. Saffron Flower Extract to strengthen lashes. And Avocado Oil to help nourish the lashes and prevent future damage.
So, I wish to this day that I took a picture of the first time I applied the Lash Confidence Mascara. Because I didn’t realise how thick the formula was upon initial application, I ended up with approximately 5 lashes per eye. Like I said before, this formula walks right up to the line of being gunky and you have to wipe the excess off to make this mascara usable.
Once I did that, however, I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was underwhelmed with the result. The above picture is with two coats of mascara. The major claims of this mascara is that it gives instant length, volume, and curl to the lashes. I would say that it hit one out of three. Volume, yes, I will say that. But length and curl? Where? There is some lift, but I have a feeling that it won’t last long.
And it’s wear test time! Right off the bat, as predicted, my lashes fell flat after a few hours of wear time. And it caused my lashes to lose whatever definition they had. The really interesting thing to note is the formula. Considering how thick and whipped the formula is, I can honestly say that I’m shocked at how well this mascara does wear. I can see some smudging around the outer corner of my eye. But a part of me feels like this should have been worse. It even wore pretty well when I had a full face of makeup on. It was also easy to remove with a little oil cleanser.
So, in case you haven’t guessed, I’m giving the LYS Beauty Lash Confidence Mascara a sizable thumbs down. This mascara requires way too much effort on my part to make it usable. And the results aren’t worth the effort. If you already have quite long lashes and you just want some decent volume, you might like this. But otherwise, there are so many great affordable mascaras out there. Have you tried the LYS Beauty Lash Confidence Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
