Happy March, y’all! The days are beginning to shorten, the temperatures are theoretically going down, and I get to talk to you all about my morning routine. I am nothing if not consistent. But this season’s post is particularly special. Because for the first time ever, I have no repeat products in this post. That’s right, all of these are newbies that I’ve been using and loving for a hot minute. And I am so excited to talk about them all. Let’s get into it!
*Em’s Note* As always, all products that were sent in PR have been marked with an asterisk. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
STEP 1 – CLEANSE
So, this might be something of a shock. But for the last few weeks, I haven’t been using a Micellar Water as my morning cleanser. You see, I somehow ended up in a position where I had an overabundance of facial cleansers that I had to use up. So, I decided to lay off the Micellar Water until I had used most of my other cleansers up.
I had very recently finished a cleanser from The Ordinary. And I’m now currently cycling between the REME BEAUTY G-HYDRA CLEANSING GEL – $47.00* and the GUNK OFF HYDRATING GEL CLEANSER – $52.00*. Both of these options are fabulous for me because they are super hydrating and leave my skin feeling bouncy and soft. And with luck, I should have finished both by the end of the month (I’m using both at night too).
STEP 2 – TREATMENT pt. 1
After a few tumultuous months of travel and potential allergic reactions, my skin is in a much better state. However, I’ve still had the odd pimple rudely pop up. And for that, the TBH SKINCARE ACNE HACK SPOT TREATMENT – $29.95 has been assisting me a great deal. This has really helped reduce the time that the acne is on my face. And it also helps prevent new pimples from forming. And yes, I know I’m supposed to be using this predominately at night. I find using it at 6am to be easier.
STEP 3 – TONE
A few of the picks that I have here I tend to alternate depending on my skin’s mood. For instance, when my skin is angry, I’ve been adoring the TOWER 28 SOS DAILY RESCUE FACIAL SPRAY – $47.00. This instantly soothes my redness and helps in healing my skin overall. For when my skin is in a better mood, I have been using the GLOW RECIPE CLOUDBERRY BRIGHT ESSENCE TONER – $65.00. Not only is this wonderfully hydrating, the Cloudberry Concentrate helps brighten my complexion over time as well.
STEP 4 – TREATMENT pt. 2
You will all be so proud of me. I’m only using two serums in my routine right now. But these two have been such heavy hitters, I’ve truly felt like I haven’t needed anything else. Firstly, The SKINCEUTICALS SILYMARIN CF – $242.00. The price makes me wince, but there is a reason why it’s one of the best Vitamin C serums in the world. The difference this has made to my complexion is phenomenal.
The other obsession is thankfully a little easier on the wallet. It’s the THE ORDINARY SOOTHING & BARRIER SUPPORT SERUM – $29.00*. This serum uses an unique blend of lipids, vitamins, and phytotechnologies to assist in repairing damaged skin. This stuff was my lifesaver in late January when I had that suspected allergic reaction.
STEP 5 – MOISTURISE
Again, another situation where I’ve been alternating between two fabulous moisturiser. In this case, it does tend to be for no rhyme or reason, I generally just use whatever my tired ass reaches for first. And at the moment, those moisturiser are the GLOW RECIPE PLUM PLUM HYALURONIC CREAM – $67.00 and the CERAVE FACIAL MOISTURISING LOTION – $25.99. Both of these are intensely hydrating and great for the summer months.
STEP 6 – SUNSCREEN
Because sun protection is what? FUNDAMENTAL! (thank you, Paris Is Burning). While I’ve currently got a bevy of gorgeous sunscreens in my collection. At the moment, I’ve been focusing on these two. The ULTRA VIOLETTE FAVE FLUID ULTRALIGHT SKINSCREEN – $52.00* is one I technically can’t talk about as it was a free gift. But if I repurchase it in the future, you’ll know I liked it. The BANANA BOAT ULTRA LIGHT FACE FLUID SPF 50+ – $19.95, however, I did purchase with my own money. So I can talk about it. Honestly, there isn’t much to say about it. It’s a thin textured sunscreen that soaks in quick with no white cast. So, exactly what I want to see in a sunscreen. It’s affordable and it goes on sale often.
ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing and seek shade. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming, towelling and perspiring in accordance with directions.
And that is a wrap on my current morning routine. Obviously, there is coffee involved here as well. But I’m not entirely sure that counts. I hope you all have an amazing week. And I will see you when I see you!
Cheers and love
Emily xo
