Last week, The Isa experienced it’s first below 10° day of the year. Which means it’s now time for me to haul out the moisturisers, scrubs, and serums that will keep my skin smooth and winter ready. This is a routine that I’ve spent the last year perfecting and I cannot speak high enough about my winter bodycare faves. Let’s get into it!
STEP 1 – SCRUB
So, fun fact about me, I actually tend to break out on my body more in winter than I do in summer. I suspect it’s because my skin is dry and irritated and it’s overproducing oil to make up for it. In any case, 2-3 times a week, before I even jump into my shower, I will slather my body in the FRANK BODY GLYCOLIC BODY SCRUB – $28.00. I’ve been extremely vocal about my affection for this scrub in the past (it was a Best In Beauty winner last year). But the reason why I adore this in the winter is because not only am I getting that rich scrub from the pumice, I’m also getting that chemical exfoliation as well.
STEP 2 – CLEANSE
Once I’m in the shower (which is at a reasonable temperature and not at all scaling) and have rinsed off the scrub, I will then go in with one of the EVERYDAY BY FRANK BODY BODY WASHES – $14.00. I have been obsessed with these body washes because not only do they leave me smelling incredible. But the range is targeted towards different body concerns. I’m currently using the Brightening one, which contains Kakadu Plum and Vitamin B5 to brighten and clarify the skin. But I will probably be repurchasing the Nourishing one when this runs out. The Nourishing Body Wash contains Squalane, Oat Extract, and Avocado Oil. Which my winter skin will adore
STEP 3 – TREAT
Once I’m out of the shower and have lightly towel dried my skin (just enough so I’m not dripping), I will lather myself with the FRANK BODY HYALURONIC ACID BODY SERUM – $30.00. This was the game changer of the year for me last year. Not only does this contain Hyaluronic Acid to help draw moisture into the skin, there is also Niacinamide for barrier protect and Ceramides for additonal moisture retention.
STEP 4 – MOISTURISE
After giving the serum a moment or two to soak in, I’ll then lock that serum in with one of my all over body moisturisers. While I have a few in my collection, the two I’m reaching for most often are the GLOW RECIPE WATERMELON GLOW PINK DRINK BODY CREAM – $45.00 and the SOL DE JANERIO DELICIA DRENCH BODY BUTTER – $38.00. The Glow Recipe is the lighter of the two formulas. And is generally my go to for day to day use. The Sol De Janerio, however, is much thicker and nourishing. This will be what I’ll pull out on days that are particularly windy and harsh on the skin.
My final moisturising step is on my lips. We all get the dreaded cracked lips during winter. And right before I go to sleep, I will spread on a layer of the LANEIGE LIP SLEEPING MASK – $31.00 on my lips. Y’all, it’s a classic for a reason. It’s been my go to for literal years. I’m actually super close to the bottom of this jar. So, Laneige, if you wanna hook a sister up?
And those are my picks for keeping my skin silky smooth and scale free this winter. Let me know what your winter body essentials are in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
