Throughout the month of April, I embarked on a personal challenge to wear a new lippie or lip combo every single day. And a lot of you guys loved this (which I sincerely appreciate). But you also had a lot of questions about my thoughts on some of the lip products that I wore. So, for a bit of fun, I picked out the five most requested lip looks. And I figured I would give you my thoughts on them. Let’s get into it!
DAY 2 – MILK MAKEUP KUSH LIP OIL in CHOCOLATE CAKE – $44.00
Out of all of the lip looks that I did over the month of April, this was the most requested for my thoughts. Namely because Milk had only just launched them at the time of me wearing it. And they had previously released the Odyssey Lip Oil Glosses only a few months prior. If I’m being honest, these aren’t remarkable enough for me to recommend them. I definitely like the Odyssey Glosses more. So, let’s hit the quick differences. The Kush Lip Oils definitely have that thinner, oil like texture on the lips that tends to emphasize my lip lines. They are definitely less pigmented than the Lip Glosses. That neutral brown colour doesn’t show up at all on me. And you get 2.5ml less product for around the same price as the lip glosses. I would skip these. I’ll use this up, but I’m glad that I didn’t buy more than one.
DAY 6 – TOWER 28 SHINE ON LIP JELLY in ICED PISTACHIO – $40.36 (sold as a set)
I have been a massive fan of the Tower 28 Lip Jelly’s. But I had yet to try any of their glitter shades. And I have a history of being super picky with glitter glosses because the gritty feeling on my lips drives me nuts. Fortunately, that wasn’t at all the case here. This shade went on so smooth. The pink is a ‘My Lips But Better’ kinda shade on me. And the glitter is super, super fine. It’s more of a shimmery gold reflect on the lips. I adore this one. I do believe it’s a limited edition shade. But it’s still available on Revolve at the time of writing. Plus, you get one of their OneLiner’s as a bonus with this (big fan of those too).
DAY 15 – MAKEUP FOREVER ARTIST LIP PENCIL in COMPLETELY SEPIA – $35.00 & SUMMER FRIDAYS DREAM LIP OIL in SOFT MAUVE – $45.00
This look was specifically inspired by the gorgeous Morgan (you can find her Substack here). She had done a similar look with a Summer Fridays Lip Oil and Makeup Forever Artist Pencil. I’ve talked the Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oils to death. They are fabulous, buy all of them. But I wanted to chat about the Makeup Forever Artist Colour Pencils because I haven’t discussed them much here. The thing that makes the Artist Pencils unique is that they aren’t exclusively a lip liner. They are designed to be used all over the face. And I often will use this shade to add fake freckles to my nose and cheeks. It’s a great colour match for me. The main reason why I love this pencil, though, is that it wears so well and for so long as a lip liner. It’s not too creamy, not to matte feeling. Super easy to blend out. And extremely comfortable on it’s own.
DAY 16 – REVLON MATTE LITE CRAYON in CLEAR THE AIR – $24.95 & MECCA MAX GLAZE PHASE LIP OIL in CARAMEL GLAZE – $15.00
Now, the Revlon Lite Crayon’s were the biggest surprises to me during this little series. I just grabbed it as a spur of the moment pick. And was IMMEDIATELY impressed by how smooth it went on and how pigmented it was. I’ve tried a lot of these colour crayons over the years. And I do, more often than not, find the matte ones to be quite drying. But this was just fabulous. 10/10, strongly recommend. And I’ll also shout out the Glaze Phase Lip Oils. Very nourishing on the lips. And at $15, they are one of the more affordable options that I’ve seen as far as lip oils go.
DAY 26 – TOO FACED KISSING JELLY GLOSS in SWEET COTTON CANDY – $37.00
Now, this was an impulse purchase for sure. I definitely didn’t need it. But I’m super glad to own it. The reason why I enjoy this more than say, the aforementioned Kush Lip Oils, is because the shades in this range are just fun. I mean? It’s a blue lip gloss. And in this case, the blue tint is noticeable. It adds a lovely coolness to my natural lips. But importantly, if you have a lip shade that leans a little orange. A gloss like this on top will neutralise that orange tone. I would actually pick up a few more of these, I really did enjoy this one.
And those are my lip picks! If you’re following me on Instagram, you will know that I’ve been keeping the party going with my 31 Days Of MAC Series. So I hope you’re enjoying that too. In any case, I hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!
Cheers and love
Emily xo
