The fragrance addiction is still strong here at Emmie’s Beauty Life. And for today’s post, I wanted to chat about three of the more high profile releases that have come across my desk as of late. There is no real theme behind these choices. But they are all ones that I was eager to try. Let’s get into it!
KAYALI EDEN SPARKLING LYCHEE 39 – $47.00 for 10ml
NOTES – Top: Litchi, Black Currant, Red Apple, Italian Lemon. Middle: Violet, Rose, Jasmine Sambac. Base: Sugar, Vanilla Absolute, Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, Cedar
We’ll start with the runaway favourite. I mean, this is the fragrance that I’ve had for the least amount of time. And you can clearly see the dent I’ve put in it. Scent wise, it’s a sister scent to the Kayali bestseller, Eden Juicy Apple. But where that one smells, well, red and juicy. There is a sparkling lightness to this one. Almost like I can smell the fizzy bubbles as well as the candy sweetness. It’s a less heavy handed scent, if that makes sense. It’s fruity, flirty, and definitely one that I recommend. (Also, yes, I do have Vanilla Sugar on it’s way to me right now)
THE 7 VIRTUES AMBER VANILLA – $44.00 for 10ml
NOTES – Top: Pink Pepper. Middle: Carnation, Lily Of The Valley. Base: Ambroxan, Iso E Super, Vanilla, Musk.
Now, where Sparkling Lychee was an instant slam dunk, this one had to really grow on me. You see, this was the one that I was recommended by friends that knew that I a) loved vanilla fragrances. And b) loved amber fragrances. Mix them together? Instant winner, right? Yeah, sadly no. I remember opening this up, hitting the sprayer for the first time and immediately yelling ‘Oh No!’ to myself. I’m still not sure which note hit my nose wrong. But there was something about this that I immediately didn’t like. So, it proceeded to sit in a drawer for a month while I tried other fragrances.
I have since started pulling it out again to give it another go. And I do enjoy it now. I think the secret is, for me anyway, don’t wear too much. And wait for it to dry down. Because once it’s settled on the skin, it’s actually a lovely vanilla fragrance in it’s own right. With just a hint of amber sneaking through. I will still recommend sniffing it in store first, if you are able to. This is definitely not blind buy safe.
SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 59 PERFUME MIST – $44.00 for 90ml
NOTES – Top: Vanilla Orchid. Middle: Sugar, Violet. Base: Sandalwood
Ahh, the fragrance that launched a thousand spider memes. I’ve already raved about the body cream here. And the perfume mist is more of the same. A sweet, woodsy vanilla done oh so right. I actually believe this has the best overall wear out of all of the Sol De Janeiro fragrances that I’ve tried in the past. As I can still smell this one on me after 5-6 hours of wear. If I had one complaint, it’s that this might be too intense of a scent for some (yes, this is another in the ‘I can’t wear it to work’ series). Which, in this case, I can see. Or smell, as it were. But it’s a smell that I can’t get enough of. Also, this paired with the body cream? Heaven!
Oh yeah! I can talk about fragrances all day! But that wrap’s up this post. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know in the comments what fragrances you’re loving!
Cheers and love
