I’ve mentioned this in the past. But for those who might be new to the blog, I have a tendency to be just as intrigued by negative reviews as I am with positive reviews. Especially when the product in question is from a popular and beloved brand. So, when I saw the new Kosas BB Cream getting torn apart on TikTok, I knew I had to try it for myself. I also asked if you wanted the review when I got it. And the result was an OVERWHELMING yes. So, I’ve spent the last few weeks playing with it behind the scenes. Let’s get into this review!
KOSAS BB BURST TINTED GEL CREAM – $63.00 – mecca.com.au
*24 Shades Available*
As always, let’s start with the packaging. The BB Burst Cream is housed in a sleek, clear plastic tube. There is yellow, white, and blue detail on the bottle itself. Unlike the Revealer Foundation, who’s packaging had some heft to it, the BB Burst is very lightweight. Ideal for chucking in a gym or overnight bag. The BB Burst Cream is vegan, cruelty free, and contain 30ml of product.
The BB Burst Cream is dispensed via an airless pump. Which pushes the product up from underneath. I tend to like airless pumps because you get a good idea of how much product you have left. I also enjoy the pump itself. It’s got a firmness to it that allows me some control of how much I’m pumping out.
The BB Burst Cream comes in 24 shades. And much like the Revealer foundation, there is a really good balance amongst the shades available. The shade range is divvied up into 8 categories (from Very Light to Deep Rich). And there is a great range of undertones available in each category. I wear shade 14. Described as being Light with Neutral Warm Undertones. This was the shade that was recommended to me from the Mecca website. And for right now, it’s a good match. Definitely my summer shade.
As with a lot of Kosas’s complexion products, the BB Burst Cream has a ton of skin benefits in the ingredient list. The biggie for me is the Copper Peptides. I adore Copper Peptides in my routine because they help support my collagen to make my skin looking bouncy and plump. For my sensitive girlies, this also contains Zinc, which is great for soothing redness. Finally, there is a little something called Saccharide Isomerate + Sodium PCA. Which supposedly helps support the skin barrier and assist with hydration.
Now, after the absolute nightmare that was my last skin tint review, it will delight you all to know that using the BB Burst Cream was a breeze! It does have that slippy, gel consistency. But once it’s applied to the skin, it feels more like a soothing moisturiser. It applies to the skin shockingly well. I loved using my hands to apply this. Smoothing it all over and then using a sponge to lightly press it in.
The BB Burst Cream is described as being a light, buildable coverage with a hydrated, natural finish. And, yeah, I find it hard to disagree here. For the level of coverage you see above, this was two pumps to start. And a half pump to add more coverage where needed. This BB Cream feels so ridiculously light and nourishing on the skin. I can kind of see where the more oily skinned girlies might not have liked it. But for me, right now, this was fantastic!
And now, we have to talk wear test. Right off the bat, yes, I will admit that I definitely needed to powder my face when I took the end of day picture. But that shouldn’t take away from the fact that this BB Cream did not budge at all during the 9 hours I had it on. I had no fading, no cracking. It didn’t lift around my chin or upper lip. I could have easily touched up my makeup with a translucent powder and been ok to keep wearing this until bedtime. Again, this is a BB Cream that is not marketed as being long wear. I am damn impressed.
Yeah, holy shit, y’all! The Kosas BB Burst Cream is freaking incredible. It’s soared to the top of my favourite BB Cream’s list. And it gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me. Especially if you have more mature, drier skin. I think you will legitimately love this. If you’re younger than me, or perhaps have oily skin, I would maybe still try it. But definitely get a sample first. And let me know how you go with it! I would love to know. Have you tried the Kosas BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream? Let me know in the comments below.
Cheers and love
