I’ve written many a post about my love of a good beige lipstick. But when the temperature’s drop, I often crave something a little deeper. Most go for a deep, berry toned lip. I, on the other hand, am all about those rich, deep chocolatey browns. And today, I wanted to shine a spotlight on five that I am loving as of late.
DIOR ADDICT LIP MAXIMISER in MAHOGANY – $64.00
I may as well start this with the shade that sparked the obsession in the first place. If Dior has a Mahogany shade in their lip products, I own it. And while I’ll always have a soft spot for the Lip Glow Balm’s, the Lip Maximiser is what I’ve been reaching for more and more lately. This has a stunning deep, warm brown finish on the lips. And because it’s the Maximiser formula, I get that plumping effect as well. These are pricey, but worth it.
HUDA BEAUTY FAUXFILLER LIP GLOSS in COCO – $33.00
I’ve already been super vocal about my love of the Huda Beauty FauxFiller Glosses (they were in my most recent Five Faves). So, it will be no surprise to learn that the shade Coco has been in heavy rotation this winter. If you want that true dark chocolate brown gloss with no hint of red, look no further.
MECCA MAX POUT POP SHEER LIPSTICK in P.O.V – $23.00
The Pout Pop Sheer Lipsticks are some of the most underrated in the Mecca Max line. Not only are they super smooth and glossy on the lips, they actually pack quite a punch in the pigment department. I love this shade, P.O.V, really built up on the lips so I can get as much colour payoff as I can. And what a shade it is! It has that hint of red to it, it still scratches that chocolate lip itch.
MECCA MAX LIP LOCK BALMY STAIN in ICED MOCHA – $28.00
The Lip Lock Balmy Stain’s are the latest offering from Mecca Max. And I have to say, I’m not sure that I’ve tried a stain formula quite like this one. Texture wise, it actually goes on thicker and more balmy on the lips. And it has a nice bit of shine as well. But after a few minutes, it’s settled down to a gorgeous, lightweight stain finish. Best of all, these can be layered to get maximum pigment. Out of the six shades that they came out with, Iced Mocha was the one that appealed to me the most. Colour wise, it’s more maroon than a true brown. But it almost reminds me of the colour of a devil’s food cake. And I can’t be mad about that.
SUMMER FRIDAYS DREAM LIP OIL in ROSEWOOD NIGHTS – $43.00
Finally, a pick for those who want to dip their toe into the chocolate lip goodness. Rosewood Nights from Summer Fridays. I cannot get enough of the formula of the Dream Lip Oil’s. They are so nourishing on the lips. Making them perfect for this dreadful winter weather. And while they aren’t the most pigmented lip oil that I’ve tried, it gives just enough for day to day wear.
And that is a wrap! The only question is, which are you choosing? Let me know in the comments. And also let me know your favourite chocolate lipsticks
Cheers and love
