Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’m here to wrap up my drugstore stash with my review of the viral NYX Bare With Me Foundation. This launched last year to widespread acclaim and it’s been on my radar to review for a hot minute. I’ve spent the last month playing with it behind the scenes and let me tell you, my thoughts are kinda spicy. Let’s get into the review
NYX BARE WITH ME BLURRING TINT FOUNDATION – $27.99 – adorebeauty.com.au
*10 Shades Available*
Let’s begin with the packaging. The Bare With Me Foundation is housed in a stout, soft feel plastic tube. The plastic is transparent, making it easy to find your shade. The tube has black and pink detail and a pink cap on the bottom of the tube. It’s definitely unique packaging, I haven’t seen a skin tint like this one before. But it’s small size would make it a great option for travel. The Bare With Me Foundation is cruelty free, vegan, and contains 30ml of product,
So, this is a first for me. The Bare With Me Foundation is dispensed very much like a squeezy tube. The hole is a good size to dispense product easily and evenly. And the cap is tight fitting to prevent leaks. One thing I will say is due to the nature of this being in the traditional squeezy tube format, it does get gunky quickly. Fortunately, it’s easy to clean.
One of the big issues I had with this foundation right from the jump was the shade range. The Bare With Me Foundation has 24 shades in the line. And from what I’ve seen online, the shade range looks really well balanced. A good division of light, medium, and deep shades. With a solid range of undertones for each shade. For some inexplicable reason, however, we only have 10 of those shades available here in Australian retailers. And unlike the previously reviewed Revlon Illuminance foundation, which also had a limited shade range in Australia, I genuinely struggled to find which shade was right for me.
I ended up purchasing the two lightest shades that were available here. Shade 2 – Fair (Porcelain with Warm Undertones) and Shade 6 – Soft Beige (Medium Beige with Warm Undertones). On their own, they are too light and too deep for me respectively. But when I mix the two, I can make a shade that I can pull off. It’s just frustrating that I have to buy two shades to get one that works for me. And yes, I am aware of my own privilege in that I can 99% of the time find a foundation that works for me.
The consistency of the Bare With Me Foundation is not unlike a CC or BB Cream. Definitely on the thicker side and will hold it’s shape when dotting onto the face.`I generally preferred this blended with a sponge. As it gave me the most even finish and the closest to a true ‘blurred’ effect. Strangely, when I used my hands to blend this in, it just just slipped and slides around and didn’t sit right on my face. It look especially bad on my nose.
The Bare With Me Foundation is described as being a medium coverage with a radiant finish. And while I agree that the coverage is pretty good with the amount of product that I used (one pea sized drop of each shade), I was surprised to read that it had a radiant finish. For me, it was more of a natural matte finish. Skin like, but not a lot of glow. One thing I will note is that the primer you use with this can make or break this product. This worked really nicely with my more pore filling/smoothing primers (this pairs really well with the NYX Marshmallow Primer). But with my more nourishing/moisturising primers, this wanted to slip and slide around. And it took a lot of powder to get this to settle down. leaving my base looking super cakey.
Which brings us nicely to the wear test. And I do have to concede that this wears really nicely on my combo/dry skin. This is another in the ‘Trust The Process’ series of foundations where I’m not sure about it initially, but the longer I wore it, the more I liked it. It felt more comfortable and lightweight on my face as the day went on. If I do have any gripes, I will say that this does settle into the lines around my face. Especially around my nose and mouth. And I also noticed it fading around my nose and jaw late in the day. So, not the most long wearing, but still passable. I could easily touch up and keep wearing this.
This one is tough, I won’t lie. I like this foundation, but not enough to recommend it. The lack of shade range hurts it the most. When the day comes that NYX brings over the other 14 shades, then I’ll give it my recommendation. But until then, this is a skip. Have you tried the NYX Bare With Me Foundation? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love

I actually love the finish of this a lot!
For me, it takes a minute to settle down. Initially, it looks like it’s sitting rather than being one with my skin
