MAC’s International Lipstick Day event has come and gone for another year. And I have 4 shiny new MAC lipsticks that have made their way into my collection. This year’s haul was particularly exciting as it coincided with MAC’s 40th birthday celebrations. And there were some really cool and exciting new lip launches with this year’s line up. So, as I always do, l’ve swatched what I picked up. Let’s get into the haul.
SHADE: Like I Was Saying
FORMULA: Lustreglass
SHADE DESCRIPTION: Extremely Neutral Light Brown
SHADE: Syrup
FORMULA: Lustreglass
SHADE DESCRIPTION: Blue Pink
SHADE: Velvet Teddy
FORMULA: MACximal Silky Matte
SHADE DESCRIPTION: Deep Tone Beige
In March of 2024, MAC announced that they would be completely revamping their matte lipstick line with their MACximal Silky Matte Lipsticks. And because Velvet Teddy is my all time favourite lipstick, I had to get it. My first impressions of the new formula, very creamy, much less draggy across the lips than the original Matte formulation. And very good instant impact as far as colour payoff. Now, because I am a crazy person, I have several version’s of Velvet Teddy in my collection. Some dating as far back as 2016. So, because this is the new and improved model, I have swatched all five of my Velvet Teddy’s to compare.
Interestingly, the new Velvet Teddy is closer in tone to the Shadescent’s collection version that I have. it’s slightly deeper and more brown.
SHADE: Bubbles
FORMULA: Glaze
SHADE DESCRIPTION: Iridescent Champagne White
As I mentioned before, MAC is currently celebrating their 40th Birthday. And as part of the celebrations, they relaunched eight of their most iconic discontinued lipsticks for a limited time. Now, I’d be lying if I didn’t say they were all gorgeous, but something too over me when I saw TikToker Erin Parson’s swatch Bubbles. I’ve never seen a lipstick quite like it. And I new that if it was available during the sale, I’d be buying it immediately.
This shade initially launched back in 1996, and from what I understand, was discontinued sometime during the 2010’s. The formula is also new to me. This is a Glaze. Less pigmented than the Frost formula, but more metallic than the Lustreglass. I’ve seen so many people pair this with either Stone lip liner or a nude lipstick. Both combo’s are stunning. I am beyond excited to have this shade in my collection.
And those were my picks from MAC. As always, I have wrist swatches of the down below.
Did you pick up any lipsticks from the Free Lipstick Day? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
