I hope you’re hungry for makeup reviews! Because I have five little morsels that I’m just dying to talk about. All of these are from my most recent drugstore themed makeup stash. And there is a good mix of good and bad to talk about. Let’s get reviewing!
NYX COSMETICS THE BROW GLUE – $16.99
Out of all of the products in my drugstore stash, this was the one that I went into with the most trepidation. Because The Brow Glue has a very polarising opinion online. A true love it or hate it, if you will. As for me, check me in the hate column. Because this was a yikes!
The Brow Glue was, for me, a mess from the jump. The formula was very gloopy and stringy. I spent more time scraping the sides of the bristles than I did swiping it through my brows. And once it was on the brows, it was strange. My brows would feel tacky, like the gel hadn’t set down properly. But they had white, crunchy looking tips. Worst of all, it simply did nothing for my brows. I’ve since heard that the tinted version is better. But this is a pass for me.
RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION LOOSE FACE POWDER -$16.95
The last time I had the Match Perfection powder in my stash, it was 2020. So, it’s been a while since I last used it. And maybe my taste in powders has changed over the last four years, but this isn’t as good as I remember it being. It doesn’t have that smooth, silky feeling when I apply it, it highlighted my lines, and it accentuated my dry patches. I’d be curious to see how this goes in the summer months. But for right now, I’ll be sticking to my Huda Beauty.
MAYBELLINE LASTING FIX SETTING SPRAY – $18.99
Now this was the biggest surprise of the stash. Because I went into this not knowing anything about this setting spray. And now, it’s easily the best one that I’ve tried from the drugstore. This really did tick all of the boxes for me. Non aggressive spritzer, pleasant scent, non tacky feeling on the skin once settled, and most importantly, it kept my makeup in place for an entire work day. Again, I know that I’ll have to give this another go come summer. But if you spot this in the wild, definitely worth picking up!
NYX COSMETICS BUTTERMELT BRONZER in ALL BUTTAD UP – $23.99
I feel like I’ve been dumping on Nyx a little bit over my last few posts. So, it’ll delight them to know that I do, in fact, love their Buttermelt Bronzer. The formula of this is so silky smooth and easy to blend. I even love that the shade is quite unique. It leans a little on the warm red side, giving it almost a blonzer like finish on the cheeks. If I have one nitpick, I’m not huge on the packaging. I find it difficult to open. And as you can see from the divot in the bottom corner, I have dropped it while trying to open it. But that’s it! I swear, it’s a great bronzer.
RIMMEL KIND & FREE TINTED MULTISTICK in PEACHY CHEEKS – $19.95
Another lowkey fave that came out of this stash, the Kind & Free Multistick was so easy to use. It’s a lighter formula than you would expect from a cream product. But it builds up easily without lifting my foundation underneath. I also found that my preferred method of application was swirling it directly onto the face and then using a brush to blend. Adding more if needed. I also really loved this on my lips. The formula was surprisingly nourishing and comfortable. I know that there are more shades of these and I’m excited to try them.
Well, I hope you had your fill of my reviews. And that you also have an amazing week ahead. What new products have you tried recently? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
